I am thinking about looking for an old GM car - like 1980's, either a Cadillac or
a Buick. Anybody have one of did have one? I have had a 1988 Olds Touring Sedan and I really liked it. I see a few in very good shape for sale and I'm thinking I might be able to buy one by fall...
It would just be for fun longer trips, etc.

1. Even if you find one with low miles all the parts on it are going to be around 20 years old
Expensive kinds of parts that deteriorate with age as much as use. Seals, gaskets, hoses, electrical wires are all susceptible to this. Even metal parts will corrode and become fatigued over time. May not even be able to get some of those parts any more?

Are you mechanically inclined and have a good selection of tools?

I am mechanically inclined but I hate working on cars. Knuckle busters.

I wouldn't consider any car built in the 1980's to be dependable enough to take on longer trips.

2. Found a 1998 Buick Park Avenue, with around 65 thousand miles on it.
All leather, buckets in front, has burled rosewood trim inside, the standard GM 3.8 v-6 with fuel injection and front wheel drive. Has nearly every option they could put in it from the factory installed.
Asking price is $5600, which I think I can get down to an even 5 grand maybe even a little less...

Just saw that one last week, continuing my search.
