I'm in the market for a used car...
My wife and I are looking into buying a new "used" car. The car that jumped out at us, was the 06-08 Chevy Malibu's.

From what we have read online, the Malibu appears to have good ratings, on reliability and safety...

So, do any of you have any good, or bad things/issue that pertains to the never model Malibus?....:D Any advice/stories will be greatly appreciated.

1. Usded to work with a guy who loved the older Malibus.
Can tell uopu only general stuff - it will give you better mileage than you expect. It is probably very reliable. It handles pretty well and is comfortable.

Sorry I can't be more helpful - my experience with GM cars is with older models, but they are still my favorite US cars.

we got one about two weeks ago...Our old Dodge Intrepid...well, not old, it was an 04, crapped out on us...and we desperately needed a new car for the wife( she drives about 74 miles a day)...so we took a plunge, I asked a few buds if they heard anything bad/good about the Malibu's, and they didn't hear anything bad, and the reviews I found/read online seemed to be rather good...

We got an 2006 Malibu LT Maxx( 23k miles)....its a V6 3.5 liter, 201 horses, with a hatch back, 106 cubic foot(max) for passenger space, and max 40 cubic feet of cargo space...back seats do adjust forward/backward, and the seats also fold down for max cargo space...total was 13,900(with sales tax/transfer of tags). Also, our insurance stayed the same, Safeco said the Malibu we got was safer, considered to be a station wagon/family car, so our insurance stayed the same(well, its about 40 cents cheaper).

So far, the gas mileage is around 423 miles per tank of gas...I didn't look at the gas tank capacity, but I think its around 15.5...it does a lot better than the Intrepid, which cruised around 350 miles per tank(16 gal tank).

We thought about getting a Dodge Charger/Magnum, but the reviews and what not I read on...well, a good deal of Dodge sedans didn't seem too flattering...but I do admit, the Intrepid we had, was a work horse, and at least it lasted long enough, to die at a time...were we could afford to get another car...

If I encounter any issues in the long run, I'll be sure to post them here...I just hope that I can finally have a car, that can out live the payment plan...knock on wood.
