What do you do for St. Patrick's Day?

I generally send cards and wear green, and occasionally attend the local parade, but that's about it. Bars aren't my thing, especially when people are getting hammered en masse.

However, I do go to an Irish singalong every spring, though it's not on St. Patrick's Day.

What about the rest of you? Do you treat it as a holy day, or as a party?

1. I tell stories and drink good whiskey
Green beer is an abomination (if it's light enough to dye it green, it's too light to be called beer!) and bars are full of amateur drinkers. I'll stay home with a bottle of Michael Collins or Connamara and watch "The Quiet Man" for the 57th time.
And I've got at least three gigs to tell folks about St Patrick and the Irish in mid-March, so I get the real story out there (no snakes). Oh, and I'll tune into liveIreland.com for the music (but I do that most days anyway!)

2. Definitely amateur night...
Here in the D.C. area the bar crawls start well in advance of St. Patrick's Day itself.

I prefer your ideas for St. Patrick's Day.

3. Wear green, go to work and come home.
And this year I'll be happy because the next day is Friday!
