Democratic Party MUST get behind "TERRI'S LAW"
DUer "Coastie for Truth" says we "HAVE to got to get out in front with a massive Terri's Law" - I agree. The Progressive Democratic Party base is indeed the real "pro-life" community and the suggestion that Howard Dean, Judy Steinberg, Sidney Wolfe, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, and Harry Reid run with this is one that I endorse.

Please note http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1670894#1674203 Duer "progressiveright" posted the above thread suggesting "a 'Schiavo health care plan' to expand medicaid and provide basic life saving health insurance to all americans (at expense of cutting corporate welfare preferably) - there are millions of Schiavos that will die without public help.", which where TERRI'S LAW - below - was posted.

So why is the Democratic Party doing nothing?

Terri's Bill would consist of two sections.
1. Amend the Bankruptcy Code to wipe out Medical debts -

3. There's some good stuff there
The Republicans are now under pressure to propose substantive legislation when they re-convene next month. However, the Schiavo case was so aberrant that they may have nothing to do.

It could be an excellent opportunity for the Democratic opposition to get some more significant health-care legislation on the table. And maybe even pass it.

And maybe Jennifer Aniston will ask me out, too.

4. If your saying that WE need to Spenser a Terris Law
that would cover all these bases, then I agree. The repugs version is little more than political posturing. This may be the opportunity we need to hold their feet to the fire and call them on their words.
