I have survived week one of the 2-week morning boot camp.
I'm sore and very sleepy, but I have made it everyday. When this is over, it should be a piece of cake to fall into a moderate routine. Today we went up and down the stairs in the parking garage, and did sprints up the ramps. Then we went inside and did agility relays with medicine balls and sprint relays. It was a full cardio hour today. M-T were combination of strength training and cardio. This weekend I am going to jog 3 miles at least one day. I ran a 5K back in August, and then I fell out of my routine and got lazy. I hadn't run since until a couple weeks ago, and have done up to 2 miles. But my top priority for this weekend is catching up on my sleep!!! :boring:

1. Excellent job!
Sounds like fun! I'd love to join you, but swimming and running keep me busy!

2. Week 2, day1
Waking up was hard to do... went to a concert last night, so I only got about 3.5 hours sleep. Looking forward to nap time after work!

This morning we started with a 10 minute jog to warm up. Actually, everyone else walked, but I still jogged, even though it was soooooo tempting to take it easy instead. We did lower body today today, walking with resistance bands around our ankles and also doing lunges the width of the gym and back (while carrying medicine balls). Between sets, we did various types of ab work (bicycle, crunches, etc). To cool down, we tried several different types of balance exercises and then some light stretching.

6 days down, 4 to go!

4. Day 8 behind me.... 2 more to go... or really 3
The trainers are throwing in a freebie day the Monday after boot camp is over. They are going to go over weights and machines with us. So far they have focused on things you can do WITHOUT a gym or a bunch of expensive equipment.

Today we did leg work with resistance bands and with steps, a few yoga moves, and abs.

I don't think I will continue in the mornings. I'm just completely exhausted everyday. But I will get back into my after work routine, and I may do one morning class a week just to keep it mixed up.

6. So now that you've completed two weeks,
please share with us your results. Better energy? Did you lose some weight or inches? Or do you just feel better overall for sticking to it? Any good habits you picked up from this two weeks that you know you'll stick to?

The variety of things you did is amazing. It seems like it was a great workout! Would you do something like this again in the future?

7. One more day...
I finished the 2 week class, but I am going one more day on Monday. They are giving makeup days to those who missed classes, and to those of us who didn't, they decided to give us a freebie (I was one of only THREE who made it everyday!). It won't be like the boot camp days, but a regular personal training session, with individual attention. We'll actually be split up in twos over Mon-Wed, and they will give us notes on suggestions for what to do depending on our own goals and whether we have gym/equipment access.

I did fine with getting up every morning and making it through the day, but I was BEAT at the end of every workday and ended up taking naps each day when I got home. I also slept most of last weekend and this weekend. So I don't think this converted me into a morning workout person, but I am thinking about staggering my workouts, most in the evening, but maybe once or twice a week in the mornings, just to give me more options for fitting it into my schedule.

I didn't lose any weight, but I didn't really expect to. I did not restrict myself during the holiday parties, but I figured this would keep me from gaining at least. I would like to lose another 20lbs before I go to Aruba in March, so when I am not attending holiday functions, I will be trying to eat healthy, and after the holidays, I will be going back to serious food-planning.

I do feel like I am stronger, and that I increased my endurance quite a bit. I also really learned how much mixing up routines can help one get the most out of a workout. I was SO MUCH more fatigued by the sprints and relays than I EVER got from jogging at a steady pace! So, as I continue with my workouts, I will plan on keeping a better variety in my plan. I would also like to have some more training sessions between now and March too help me keep on track, with specific workout goals to meet along the way.

8. Impressive results! Especially your endurance.
I always think in terms of pounds, but last year when I was styling my hair, for the first time ever I noticed some definition in my triceps. And also that they weren't as flabby as they had been. It was a wonderful moment & one I remember when I get overly focused on the scale vs general fitness.

With your plan you shouldn't have any problem losing 20 pounds by March. Just getting through the holidays without gaining is good! Just today someone brought in a plate of Christmas cookies. For some reason they always put them by my desk, x( so I moved them. ;)

Good work!!
