I'm starting a December boot camp.
I will do at least one thing every day -- no matter how small. I am determined to have a filled in workout calendar by month's end, since I pretty much completely blew off November!

Yesterday I did a 40 minute step workout. Knees feel ok! Today I did a full body strength routine -- one set only, but I got my ass in the workout room & that's what counts. It's been so long since I lifted a weight it's likely I'll hardly be able to get out of bed tomorrow. ;)

I am determined to lose a few pounds this month -- not much, but a few. Hubby & I aren't into Christmas, so it shouldn't be too hard. It will be nice to go into the New Year with a few pounds lost & not gained.

1. Monday, Dec 3
I did a 30 miniute step work out. Time off seems to have really helped my knee. Now I have to be careful to not overdo it. I think I will walk for the rest of the week & maybe by Friday I can do another step workout. Step is my favorite cardio! If it weren't for my knees, I'd do it every day!

4. Good work, Ellen!
You ran pi -- that's cute! I love pi. What a wonderful number! I have it memorized to about 150 digits. A stupid thing, but when I get stressed or pissed, I don't count to 10, I count pi.

3. Dec 4 & 5
12/4: I did an intense mini-cardio workout - 15 minutes - followed by some leg & back work. I usually work my back with lat pull downs, but yesterday I tried a bent over row & really liked the feeling of it. Today I have a little bit of soreness in my back, something I never get with the pull downs.

12/5: I walked hills. It was breezy & chilly & my cheeks were bright red upon returning home. It is always good to get outside. It really lifts my spirits & today they needed lifting!

For the month so far, I'm 5 for 5. Zang!

7. 12/6
Six hills. Since I've been away from it for so long, I haven't been wearing my weighted belt, but next time I walk, I'm wearing it & am going to put in 8 pounds.

10. update
12/9 -- I shoveled snow. It seemed like forever, but it was actually about 45 minutes. We have a large patio, a two-car driveway & we live on a corner lot, so it was a lot of snow! I actually enjoy shoveling snow, so it wasn't so bad, although it was very cold!

12/10 -- My first missed day! x(

12/11 -- I shoveled more snow! Everything I did the other day, only the snow was lighter & fluffier. Tonight I intend to hit the weight room.

Overall, I'm happy with my progress. My calendar is looking pretty good!

12. update
12/12 -- Another missed day. x( Too much going on to get a workout in.

12/13 -- Full body strength training. Hit every muscle group for one rep but with heavy weights. Ohhhhh, I'll be sore tomorrow. Just in time for more snow shoveling! ;)

14. I do free weights.
We have a nice gym setup in the basement. My husband has been into weight lifting for many, many years. We have a very nice olympic bench press, a lat pull down machine & a Soloflex Rockit, which simulates squats. For the rest we use dumbbells & barbells.

These little lovlies (Platemates) are wonderful for adding 2.5 pound increments to your dumbbells. My little biceps just can't increase by 5 pounds at a time! ;)

15. 12/14
Good step workout. Also, I've noticed my left arm is quite a bit weaker than my right, so I did a few bi curls & military presses today. Maybe twice a week I will try to do that to get my left side more equal than my right.

Not a bad month so far. If I could maintain this schedule for another month or two, I think I would see significant results -- like 2 dress sizes smaller! ;)

16. Update
12/15 -- 30 minute step workout -- always a good workout with lots of sweat & huffing & puffing. If my knees would allow it, I'd do this every day!

12/16 -- Walked hills. It was brisk out & a very nice workout.

12/17 -- 30 minute step workout followed with shoulders, bis & tris.

12/18 -- 30 minutes step workout followed with chest work.

12/19 -- Walked hills. Added my weighted belt for the first time in months. That extra 10 pounds makes a HUGE difference!! My knees are going to need a break from step -- maybe by Saturday I can do step again, but they are complaining today!

Overall, I'm very happy with my consistency. Had a few hiccups last week, but will persevere into the new year!

17. Update
12/20 -- Missed another day. Two job interviews, plus work. Whew! Looking for a job is time consuming!

12/21 -- 15 minute intense step workout -- I rasied my step 2" -- what a difference! Also worked out legs & back.

12/22 & 23 -- Two more missed days. Hungover on one & just lazy on the other. x(

12/24 -- Back on track. Great cardio workout followed by chest press, shoulders, bis & tris.

I've got one full week left in December & I've gotta say, my workout calendar looks better than it has since last May. I'm thrilled with my consistency. I really hope I can carry this routine into the New Year. It's gonna be hard. I quit my part time job & start working full time Jan 7. Ack!! I'm a little worried.
