Diet Myths Exposed: Part 1
By Joy Bauer, M.S., R.D., C.D.N.

"The following diet myths come up over and over again at my nutrition center. My next two blog entries will help set the record straight. Hope you find this helpful!

* If you eat late at night, the food turns straight into fat.

Not true.If your overall calories are appropriate for weight loss, you certainly can eat something after dinner. Late night calories will ultimately get used the next day (and even while you sleep).

However, for the sake of energy, it is always better to eat your calories during the day when your body needs the fuel. Plus, eating consistently throughout the day will stabilize blood sugar levels -- so you’ll feel energized and experience fewer cravings. If you are going to snack after dinner, I suggest choosing something 250 calories or less."

1. Tell Joy to kiss my ass.
Her bullshit marketing ploy for her nutrition center is somewhat largely based in centering upon commonly drawn upon beliefs. While not accurate, some of what she so conveniently dismisses does have some scientific backing.

She shows her stupidity with that "eat late at night...straight to fat" comment. For some...maybe. Depends on the individual.

Ask Jay Cutler about eating late at night and it going straight to fat. He'll be in the top 2 at the Mr. Olympia, again. Granted, an extreme response for an extreme statement.

Cutler? WTF is what people in this forum being obedient to Divine words from people?
Some other cat here loves to say "Arnold says" Now I get "Ask Cutler" Well I'm 7% Body fat
Does that make my words more valuable than people that have a higher Body fat %? No! (Well my ego says yes)my brain says wait a moment lets do research and investigate.

Can you provide any scientific studies(scientific backing) or research papers on this subject?

I'm asking in a non confrontational way. I have asked my Registered Dietitian this same question prompting the same answer. Where is this (scientific backing)regarding "eat late at night"?

3. Actually
I went back and reread your post. My first interpretation what that she was stating as a fact that eating late at night will cause the calories to go straight to fat (a common wrongly believed notion, that quite frankly...and obviously, makes my blood boil). Upon rereading it, I see she's stating that that is NOT the case, so I take what I said back.

It also looks like you've done the same thing with my post, as you're arguing against what I'm arguing against, when in fact it appears we both agree. That's pretty funny.

And the steroids Cutler takes are very easy to pronounce. Say it with me: "all of them." See? Easy.
