Anyone know of any good DVD for beginner's yoga?
I think I want to improve my flexibility a bit by adding a yoga workout once per week. I'd just as soon do it at home to save the money, but I'd like a decent DVD to get me started.

1. A DVD won't do you justice
it's worth the money to take a class because the instructor can tell you if you're doing it right or not.

My recommendation is to take a beginner's class first, then look for DVDs to keep doing it later at home.

And Yoga is awesome by the way. It really relaxes you.

3. Don't take this personally...
but how about Basic Yoga for Dummies? (And you are definitely *not* a dummy! :-))

Collage Video has a large selection of yoga DVDs; they describe the fitness levels, length, etc. http://www.collagevideo.com/

4. Do find a class, preferably Iyengar style yoga.
Iyengar is very good with basics of posture and positioning. But here's a good DVD by Patricia Walden:

5. I have several.
Power Yoga: Flexibility is good http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062DKO0/ref=pd_sbs_d_2/104-3191258-0015949?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130, but I agree with one of the reviewers, it is fast paced and might be confusing for someone not familiar with yoga. I have several of Rodney Yee's other videos, and they are all pretty good, plus, as a special bonus, he is a hotty.

Another video that would be great for beginners is Power Yoga for Everybody http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000A2ZR7/qid=1142042518/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-3191258-0015949?n=130 The format on this video is very flexible. You pick from beginner, intermediate and advanced practice. Then you can select options like wake-up practice, strength, night time, whatever appeals. The instruction is very thorough, too, so it would be good for a beginner. My main gripe with this DVD is that the production is kind of dry and can get tedious. But I use mine all the time.

8. jane fonda
i used the jane fonda one in many of my attempts to really start a practice. it is built around the sun salutation, which is a good basic workout. it is my baseline yoga workout.
