Now I've gone and injured myself...
My first kettlebell injury happened last week. While doing burpees with a weighted jump holding the kettlebell (these are sometimes called 'squat thrusts') I must have overdid something. I appear to have strained my Achilles tendon on my right foot. Not badly, but enough that I can't do a full squat.

Sigh. I'm off to the podiatrist next week to get checked out, but I'm sure it'll be 'rest, ice, ibuprofen'. What a pain. One of these days I'll remember that I'm no longer 18 and will pay more attention to warming up and stretching.

1. A short cardio warm-up is essentail for several reasons.
1) It increases systemic circulation and heart rate (blood flow/oxygen to the extremities)

2) It increases the temperature of the muscles making them more pliable.

As far as stretching it should be done post workout for Permanent elongation.

2. I've always been taught to do some cardio or a warm up set
prior to stretching. If you do it first, it is easy to injure yourself. Keep that in mind. Good luck with recovery.

3. Sucks, Heal up quick
Drives me nuts the ways the 20 year olds I climb with bounce back from problems that would take me weeks.
