Thursday 5/19 Workout Thread
I couldn't get out of bed early enough to go running before work so I'll be going after work. My upperbody workout DVD should be arriving this week. I'm ready.

1. I jogged
I did the full 5K. Tomorrow I will jog only 1.5 miles, then do some work in the weight room. I may even sit in the whirlpool for a bit.

My road race is on Saturday.

2. Tonights sleep is very important
I read that in a guide to preparing for a 5k. Be sure to get a full nights sleep tonight. For some reason it's more important than the sleep you get the night before the race (which is also important). We're pulling for you MissMillie. You're going to do great!

I was thinking about your comments the other day about the thin girlfriend of your son not being able to run most of the way with you. When I ran my 5k race there were MANY people who were larger and older than I who I couldnt catch up with. Just to give you some idea, in the last few blocks of the race, my brother turned to me and said that we should try to "kick it up a notch". He said we should pick someone and try to pass them before the end. I picked this lady who looked to be in her 60s (I'm 29) and seemed to be limping a bit (This is not why I picked her). I picked her because she was what appeared to be a closable distance in front of me. Anyway I had closed the space about halfway before the last block and a half. At that point, I got a terrible stitch in my side and I walked about 10 steps, thus giving up on my attempt to pass her. After I crossed the finish line, my brother told me to take a closer look at her. At that point I realized that she had an artificial leg. What a humbling experience.
