"The Power of Intention" by Wayne Dwyer
I haven't read it, I've just seen the PBS workshop. I try to pray a little more directly now, for example, in stead of praying that my family stay healthy and happy I actally say 'healthy' and direct the energy of that word towards them. But it's hard to stop "asking". Has anyone read the book or have any thoughts on the concept of intention?

1. This is really big in the Church of Religious Science.
Because Dr. Wayne's concepts are very similar to the church's. Our form of prayer is called 'spiritual mind treatment,' and amounts to affirmative prayer such as that you described. Terri Cole-Whittaker was a reverend in our church, for example, and she and Dr. Wayne are friends.

To check out Religious Science:

www.religiousscience.org or www.rsintl.org .

Go to the frequently-asked questions sections.

Then you will see the origins of the philosophy.

Take care!

2. My best friend has been trying to get me to read it for a year.
She just loves him and everything he says. Changed her whole way of thinking. She reads it regularly almost like some people read the bible. It's something you study...not something you read and put away. I'm too cheap and lazy to read his book. Maybe if I did less DUing...I'd do some more reading and get enlightened.
Anyway, it's recommended reading. I hope someone reads it and reports back.

3. I've got it and enjoy it. A lot of it is still over my head though.
