Thread in Religion/Theology about Church of Religious Science
There's a thread in the Religion/Theology forum where someone asked about Church of Religious Science. Some seriously distorted views being expressed there.

1. Thanks for this post.
But then I think I pretty much expressed myself on that thread.

I was upset when I went to bed last night (here in Southern California).

I thank you for posting both this and on that thread.

I had to tell myself repeatedly, "Let it go."

To call something a 'cult' after a slight bit of digging around on the internet is seriously messed up.

I would appreciate it if people would at least go to the church's website and look at the frequently-asked questions, and wait to hear some personal experiences of DUers before using such an offensive term.

2. Personal experience-that's the key
to call any group any sort of derogatory name without having been there or experienced it yourself shows a lack of maturity, I think. Personally, I have attended many different spiritual groups, done many different kinds of ceremonies, some of which touched my heart and some of which left me indifferent. Yet I would not say that any of them were "cults" or put them down in other ways, because they are obviously right for the people who practice them.

3. Exactly.
And when one practices a ceremony or goes to a service of free will - free from duress or coercion - each one of us needs to honor that.

I appreciate your spirituality, Ayeshahaqqiqa.

I'm going to report back after having lunch at the mosque today with my interfaith group.

Take care!
