1. The Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia!
Just got back from Easter vigil, which was long, but worthwhile, except for the guest preacher. Eight baptisms (we save them up for special occasions), chanting by candlelight, and rousing anthems and hymns.

I'll be back tomorrow morning for more.

Happy Easter, everyone!

3. Although I now attend a non-denom church,...
I grew up Catholic and Easter Vigil was always one of my favorites...and yes, I remember how incredibly LOOOONG it went. Second only to Palm Sunday, in my opinion.

I loved the feeling in the church when singing Hallelujah for the first time in 40 days.

10. Growing up in a Catholic church, services never, ever went beyond
an hour. It was an unspoken agreement between priest and parish, lol.

Now Episcopalians... we can do up the two hour plus vigil service! Heck, my nephew's baptism 19 years or so ago went longer even!

9. I was rather wishing we'd been able to do the vigil this morning
(we were at the seder at my ILs, instead!)

So many little ones in church (which I love. I intentionally sit in the area that families with young ones tend to congregate in). But so hard to hear anything. And our interim is a sweet lady, but goes on and on and on and usually says about nothing in her sermons. I do hope when this search is over we have someone who can handle a good, thoughtful and not long-winded sermon!

My own littler one and I weren't feeling real well, either. So it wasn't what I'd been hoping for. But there are no guarantees of that, are there?

4. Christ the Lord has risen today, allelujah! God bless all who call Him King of Kings!
The purest of hearts in pursuit of faithful understanding about our existence find an all encompassing L*O*V*E in Christ the Lord, and we glorify His name!

Thank you, Jesus!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL CHRISTIANS and those who are interested in the faith and are considering Christ as Savior - He will comfort you and bring you peace.

5. Thank you and you too
Happy Easter everyone. This year my family lost some great people and it occurs to me that they're celebrating their first Easter in Heaven. How grand must it be? Bless you all. :)

6. When I was in graduate school, the part of the Easter Vigil just before
the proclamation of "Christ is risen!" at our chaplaincy was "The Litany of the Saints." It included people in different classifications. The priest would chant

"Abraham and Sarah."

The people would chant back, "Come rejoice with us."

"Isaac and Rebecca."

"Come rejoice with us."

....
and so on through patriarchs. prophets, preachers, sacred musicians, martyrs, and doers of good works.

7. Happy Easter to all of you!
:)

I'm heading out for our 10AM service, then spending the afternoon
with my 89 yr. old Mom, my brother and his fiance.
Any time with Mom is a blessing now.

Christ the Lord has risen today--
Haaaaalleluuuujah!!

I'm singing already.
:D

:hi:

11. This Easter thing wore me out!
I was singing in the choir for two services, and participating in singing in the congregation for the third, a childrens service for our little girl.

My two-year-old insisted on singing the alphabet song loudly during the rector's homily, on that last one.
