2. About everything! Building maintenance, employee relations,
(made a point of telling me that I am the supervisor of all staff, and that I need to keep track of people's hours and stuff), doing things according to the Constitution and Bylaws, that sort of thing.
My last two chairs have been very laid back, some times too much--you know, the kind who pride themselves on the shortness of their meetings, which has its own set of problems. Still, I prefer that to people who are too worried about playing by the rules, which is usually (and certainly, in this case, imo) a power/control issue.

Maybe it's just that this person is an accountant and so is very detail oriented. My last chair was a farmer who would be an organic farmer, except he's not good enough at recordkeeping to meet organic certification requirements. He and I, we fit like a glove!!

3. How does the balance of power work in your denomination?
I know it was always understood that our senior warden would work hand in hand with our rector, but that she was the last word.

In that case, an anal person as you describe would be somewhat useful - set him on all the things you need done and have him report back!

4. Wow, Critters, you can't get a break, can you?
With your congregation, it seems like it's always one thing/person or another making your work/life difficult. I'm so sorry to hear this. Anal people can be tough to take, putting myriad demands on you, many of which are things of no major importance. I wish you good luck with that. I just said a prayer for you too.

5. PLEASE tell me you don't live in a parsonage!
That would be hell, indeed. :scared:

At any rate, you have my prayers.
