Mobilization to End Poverty, April 26 – 29, 2009 - Discount on Registration (ends tomorrow night)
Sojourners ( www.sojo.net/ ) invites you to join in acting on Obama's call for greater service in this time of economic challenge through The Mobilization to End Poverty – a historic gathering where Christian and anti-poverty leaders from across the country will engage in a transformative experience of education, worship, community, and activism in Washington, D.C. Together, we will demonstrate our collective resolve to make overcoming poverty and building a just economy priorities for the public and political agenda.

Highlights of The Mobilization include workshops, training sessions, worship, and advocacy work on Capitol Hill. We need people like you who are willing to stand up for the poor, not only in soup kitchens and shelters, but also here in the nation’s capital. I ask you to prayerfully consider joining us and our partners – including World Vision, The ONE Campaign, Oxfam America, Wesley Theological Seminary, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Convoy of Hope, and many others – by choosing to attend The Mobilization this spring.

President Obama has already publicly committed to bold but achievable goals of cutting domestic poverty in half over 10 years and achieving the Millennium Development Goals. However, he will face incredible obstacles in making poverty reduction a priority, particularly during this time of economic crisis that threatens to push millions of Americans deeper into poverty. That is why your voice and our movement are needed now more than ever.

Register by midnight tomorrow, January 22, and pay just $199. That’s $50 less than the early bird rate, and $100 less than the regular rate. (Special rate for students - just $140.)

We have already invited President Obama to speak at The Mobilization about his plans to fight poverty, and are working with the new administration to confirm his participation.

2. Thanks so much for posting this, Clear Eye.
I won't be able to attend, but I'm volunteering
to help out in a local soup kitchen that our
*%$#*@* city council has been threatening to close!

Yes,poverty should be one of our top priorities.
