Who taught you to hate the shape of your nose and the shape of your lips? Who taught you to hate yourself from the top of your head to the soles of your feet? Who taught you to hate your own kind? Who taught you to hate the race that you belong to so much so that you don’t want to be around each other? You know. Before you come asking Mr. Muhammad does he teach hate, you should ask yourself who taught you to hate being what God made you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb-tjIUu0i4&feature=relatedSorry, but I needed this. I just had a bad experience with a very racially charged discussion about dating Indians, especially white women and Indian men. There was terrible shit thrown around but I was pleasantly surprised to see the strongest and most reasonable defenses of Indian men come from wonderful white women and Latina women and Afro-Caribbean women and other women who love and appreciate Indian men for who we are as individuals. They let go of the bullshit stereotypes and prejudice.
Even though I'm Indian and Catholic, I can relate to what this Black Muslim human rights activist had to say 40 years ago. I thought I would share it with you.
