Good content subscription management system?
Does anybody know of a good content subscription management system that integrates with PayPal and runs under apache?

I see dozens of them for sale, but have no idea of what works well.

1. Try Slashdot with this question

If you could write up your question with a little more detail on what you're looking for, what you plan to use it for, etc. then this would make a good question for an AskSlashdot. http://ask.slashdot.org

I think Plone will do what you're asking too. Plone is based on Zope (written in Python). http://plone.org

Anything I can think of off the top of my head though will need additional programming/customization to integrate it into PayPal. I assume you mean use PayPal's API so when a user tries to access, for instance, the Thom Hartmann archive section that the software checks to see if the user's subscription is current. In that regard, Plone is a good choice in that you can add functionality like that.

I'd be interested in what you find too.

2. I'll try that.
If they accept it, it will be the first time in a decade of submitting things that /. accepted one of my topics!

3. The've never accepted any of my stuff either!
Still, I think this makes a pretty good Ask Slashdot.

Oh... I should have mentioned osCommerce too. The last time I looked some of their developers were trying to implement a subscription system. It also has a great developer and user community. http://www.oscommerce.com

Actually I just looked and osCommerce does support subscriptions.

There's also a project that fuses together osCommerce and phpNuke (Warning: May cause gravitational anomalies) called osC2Nuke. http://www.osc2nuke.com

5. Wankers
Yep, no surprise there. Perhaps if you could work gutting a Mac Mini into the question then maybe it stands a chance.

Good luck with the osCommerce site. There user and developer communities were really good the last time I used them (couple years ago) so you might just find what you need there.

6. I have a better idea...
Why don't I find a way to use an iMac Mini as a proctoscope for Commander Taco?

Might need a little bit of heatsink thermal grease to make it go in...
