Poll question: How do you watch Anime?
There are many ways to get Anime these days (not like the old days). So how do you get your fix?

If you do multiple just check which one you use most.

1. Rental
from Netflix. Other than that I buy them, and I prefer subtitles to dubs.

4. I review them for a genre website
so they are anxious for good press... if you look at copies of Gungrave (Vol 3) and Last Exile (Vol 2) my quotes are on the box :)

7. Same way I always have.
Fansubs for unlicensed stuff, trading with friends for everything else (I'll buy series X, a friend will buy series Y, and we'll trade/watch together). I tend to get a lot of recs at cons, too. I love popping into the video rooms to see what's on, even if it's in a genre I traditionally avoid (like mecha). I've been very pleasantly surprised that way.

I avoid anime on TV like the plague, because dubbed anime sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me (and I actively hate the idea of dubbed anime to the point where I boycott panels at cons with English VAs). I mean if I buy a DVD and somehow forget to change the audio, when I hear English being spoken I dive for the damn remote. It's like kryptonite to me. Even the few instances where the English VAs have some sliver of talent, on TV they always end up skipping episodes or cutting stuff (even the so-called "uncut" version of Gundam Wing Cartoon Network ran on the old Midnight Run was censored). The rare exception is something like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, where English was actually the original language (so I didn't mind seeing that one in the movies). But those I can count on one hand.

With all the bizarre niche channels on satellite, you'd think there would be a market for subtitled anime. From what I understand even the Anime Network shows damn near everything dubbed. Oh well, that's why the gods gave us dual-language DVDs (hallelujah!). Now if we could just get rid of "dubtitles" it'd be all good...
