lost my motivation...

This is the last one I did, but I just don't have the
drive anymore. In a rut.

2. I like that.
Acrylic on paper?

You could try doing another version of it and see where that leads ya.

5. Lovely!
I'm in a rut too. I recently brought out some of my old pencil portrait sketches to try and get myself going... may have to look them over again.

Good luck to both of us I guess:)

6. At first glance I thought it was Cezanne

That is very very nice, you've definitely got something. I'm a painter too. I just noticed this forum, and thought I would take a look. I'm "blocked" on my painting and that means when I go back to it I will have to work for a long time to get back to where I was.

7. just started a new painting....
similar landscape thing from my back yard.
I hit the art store for a few tubes of paint and
a pallet and knife.
I usually work with the crappiest materials.
I guess it's time to learn how to actually use the
stuff.

8. Beautiful piece you did.
I love the colors and the shapes. Sorry you are in a rut. It's the time of year for all kinds of out door festivals. Maybe go to some and look at some local art work.

9. Did you want to put the emphasis on the tree or the house?
or maybe none of those. Was your intention (or reaction after following your creative drive) to make the witnesses get the surrounding atmosphere from this painting?

I am just curious. No right or wrong answer, just a try, on my part to understand what you wanted to shared with us, the silent witnesses of your creation.

12. sorry...I've not been at this forum for a while.

I guess the motivation for this one was to test my self. Can I complete
a painting? Keep it simple enough to finish it.

I think my deep down experience is that I am in awe of the world and
want to express this awe. I am kind of expressing my gratifification
that I can witness this creation we live in.

10. One thing that works for me
is a trip to local galleries and shows. I see all the work that other artists are doing and am inspired before I even get back home.

Good luck!

11. That's an outstanding painting.
It is interesting and sensual enough to keep you looking at it.

Are you in a rut because of lack of interest or lack of inspiration? Who knows where inspiration comes from?

This month I was doing errands with no plans to paint but I had wanted to get a tube of chromium oxide for a while and couldnt' get it out of my mind. I had watched a guy use it painting a portrait and I wanted to try it. I stopped my errands and made trip to the Art Wholesalers' warehouse and picked up a big tube along with some gessoed panels. So now I had a big new tube of a color I never used before and my only inspiration and I was suddenly dying to use it.

I made a painting with a lot of leaves--It wasn't great but was a lot of fun and got me out of the rut.

17. After Over a Year, Mine Is Finally Coming Back
The last thing I did was to put a base coat on a piece, that was sometime early in 2006. Finally, yesterday I got off my ass and as of now, about 2/3 of the underpainting is complete.
