A "Mogster-like" Thanksgiving picture...
Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 06:48 PM by Blue_In_AK
I shot this scene yesterday through the window at my daughter's fiance's sister's house (whew!) where 60+ of us "extended family" had gathered for Thanksgiving dinner. We drove through 35 miles of white-out to get there, but it was worth it. I liked this kind of luminous lavender color, which all washes out with PaintShop color balance, so I just left it like it was out of the camera.

1. I don't know if I'd call it "mogster-like"...
Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 07:50 PM by regnaD kciN
...but it's a real nice image in and of itself. (It brings to mind several album covers for recordings of Tchaikovsky's "Winter Dreams" Symphony I've seen over the years.)

Alas, I fear that, if we have a "Winter" contest, lots of people aren't even going to bother entering, knowing that you've got the likely winner already...and even without your new equipment!

OTOH, while we're posting "trees in mist" images, here's one of mine, taken the day I almost trashed my camera by using it in the rain.

"Winter's Closing In..."

2. Oh, please....

I'm sure there are better winter pictures out there. That aside, I'm so envious of Robby's sister living in such a beautiful spot -- and guess what? She says she hates Alaska and wants to move to LOUISIANA! She's a nice lady, but...... :eyes:

I like your "trees in mist" photo. I think it's cool the way it sort of fuzzes out down there at the bottom.

3. Louisiana?????
What is she, a hurricane fanatic?

I mean, I can understand someone like one of my friends here who moved to Colorado because western Washington was "way too urban" and she needed to get near the Rockies...but moving from Alaska to Louisiana? That's a little like someone I knew who was overjoyed at transferring from Wisconsin to Texas.

4. I know...
First she said Texas (!), then said Louisiana or Mississippi would be even better. There's no accounting for taste, I guess. I left Texas in '68 and never looked back (until 2000 when I went down there to rescue HullBoss). I mean, sure it's cold up here in the winter, but I can't imagine giving up all this beauty to live down there with the swamps and cockroaches. Oh well, I guess it's a good thing that we don't all want to live in the same place.

5. Ow, thanks for the cred!
The pic and nature stands for itself, though.

I love winter pictures! :bounce:
