almost didn't make it. service has been down for a week...but look
at the ones I decided not to put in the contest.
I tossed the coin three times. Finally I just chose one. These are what was left of my picks...Now I'm having second thoughts. I hate when this happens.

Follow The Yellow Tree Road

1. If you want to change your photo, let me know...
I personally really like that top one, although the one you entered was very nice, as well.

3. I have this fetish for roads and trails

So I thought it was just my own perversion that made me gravitate toward that one.

2. Your entry is wonderful
As is everyones. I liked abstract themes, but I'm really diggin' this Fall thing. Jus' sitting back and enjoying all the beautiful "bonus" photographs that people have been posting.

I can see why you are going brain dead over your decision. All excellent. I had to make this 12 sided thingamabob out of paper and roll it off a cliff to make my decision.

It's dark, dreary, and snowing here today. You helped brighten my day with these photographs. Thank you.

4. IMO Follow the Yellow Tree Road
Is superior to Birds Eye View. All of these are strong photos smurfygirl. The Y.T R. is strongest for these reasons: First you utilized the classic "s curve" shape to lead ones eye further into the photo. Second there is the matter of the almost invisible horizon line, you chose to place it as a classic artist would have, on the thirds line. The "s curved road" ends there.
By combining these two artists "tricks" you have made a strong photograph here indeed. These tricks have oohed and aahed people for centuries, viewers gravitate to them generally without understanding why. If you are already aware of these artistic tricks, my apologies for acting like a know-it-all here. I am VERY new to the DU Photography group, literally been here for a few hours now only, so I am not sure of who knows what. I can guarantee this to you: I lack a great deal of knowledge about photography in many areas but I have some competency in artistic composition. I am hoping that my advice is of some use to you here.

5. Smurf, what's the verdict?
You want me to post the top one? It's really, really good as Mr. Ltl has pointed out.
