How about an Infared Challenge?
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 06:19 AM by regnaD kciN
Since there's been some discussion here about infared manipulation of images, what about a specific challenge for photos that have been made using such techniques? (Perhaps the entry would include the "finished" photo, as well as the original?)

I'd host it, but I definitely would want to enter a photo. So, unless everyone would agree to a waiver that would allow the host to submit as well, could someone take on hosting such a challenge?

1. Or, if not an "Infared Challenge"...
...maybe an "Extreme Processing Challenge"...?

2. I don't know anything about infrared...
(I haven't been paying attention). Is that something you need a special lens for, something you set in the camera some way, or something you do using Photo/PaintShop?

3. Well if you get a D20 then digital
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 04:14 PM by CC
IF is out since seems Cannons don't do it well. Though I would say yes yes yes to the D20 if it were me being offered one. And I am a Nikon person. There is IF film and F. Gordon is trying it out. But you can do a digital IF type stuff with photoshop and most likely paint shop. Its fun to play with. I got a filter for my D70 to do it in camera and am having fun learning and playing with it. (the 77 mm filter is on my xmas list.) There were a lot of places on the net that had tutorials on both types of IF. Maybe if we did a challenge it would be an good idea to post links to some of them for those that haven't been bitten by the bug yet. I do like the idea though.

4. I would prefer "extreme processing" since I use film
not digital. I have a camera that I can use infrared with, but I don't know about loading that sucker in the dark lol. How 'bout slide processed c41? My dad has some very cool shots with that method. I wouldn't care if you entered, btw.

5. Host away.
I can come up with a faux infrared now with a before and after, but I'd like to wait till December so I can have some film snaps.

Oh... what became of the Unity Challenge?

6. You must have missed my comment on that...
I think I'll try to slip in at least a unity thread (maybe not a full-fledged challenge) while the polls are up in the lounge. It gives everybody something to do while they're waiting to see who's the winner.

10. I didn't see that either
I have a nice photo I took at the protest that would be perfect for unity

8. I'd LIKE to find someone else to host...
...because, if I wind up doing it, I'm going to waive the rule about the host not submitting, because I want to enter!

11. I have no problem with you hosting and joining the challenge
But I'm not very clear on the infared technique. Is it just extreme anything goes processing in PS or is it a specific type of filtering and processing in PS?
