I would love to live in a little remote town like this...

As long as I had my internet, of course!

Someplace in Iceland...

1. Ohhhhh . . . that's beaufiful Peggy.
My daughter spent a summer in Iceland as an AFS student and LOVED it!

I can see that Iceland has captured your heart.

4. It's funny, my dear Mira...
I don't actually remember being there, or taking this pic...

I took a lot.

But when I saw the pic, full screen, I was so happy!

5. I know what you mean. I've been out shooting for a few days, the most ever for a contest..
And I knew full well that not until I open them up on the screen and look do I have a clue about what I really have.

And when a real good one shows up, the happiness is a moment to live for.

7. It is an illustration in my opinion
for the book "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". A wonderfully written book that kept me in stitches, and this photo should be on the cover.

8. Beautiful! It reminds me of..
a cross stitch pattern or a would be cross stitch pattern.

I have to ask you a question. Was this the only spot that didn't have trees?

9. Thanks!
Oh, no...there were many such places in Iceland. I found out that, due to the bitter cold, trees grow very slowly there...

Perhaps they had not planted any here due to the bitter cold, or due to the fact that the ground is so very stony. I think that about 21% of Iceland's territory is actually arable.

The forests are few and far between and generally not tall. It is a very striking feature, seeing forests of trees that aren't more than 20 or 30 feet tall.

12. Peg, those are breath-taking! ...
What a beautiful place! (you are quite good with a camera too)

What ever gave you the idea to go to Iceland for vacation? I'm asking (you naturally can just ignore my nosy question) because it just doesn't seem like many would think to go there. I know the thought would have never crossed my mind before I looked at your pictures. Not that I could afford to go. But a girl can dream!

Thank you so much for sharing, LS

13. Glad you enjoyed!
We went (my husband and I) because I've always wanted to see a place like that. I'd actually wanted to go to Alaska, taking the inside passage.

But the tour group we travel with wasn't going there this year. They were going to Iceland, and we decided that would work much as Alaska would have. So........we went!

The place is so picturesque that taking a good picture isn't difficult.

Thank you so much for enjoying!

14. beautiful, I wonder how they are doing now. Iceland has always
intrigued me. Someday....maybe. I was there on 911 but was not able to get off the plane. You remember those people stuck there, had to get out of US territory, but not enough fuel to get back to Europe.

16. Thank you!
The people are happy on the whole, I believe. The country is still struggling with its own financial troubles. They resisted, successfully, I believe, the orders from the EU that they comply and get bailed out.

They did not want that, and they are making their own way.

They are a sturdy, intelligent folk, and I respect them hugely.

21. There's just something about islands...
I like the fact that they are troublesome to get to.

It makes it more fun once you do get there...

Glad you enjoyed!

Thanks...
