1. And a kick so this doesn't get hidden in a flood of spam!
Sorry, HappyCynic! I had a narrow window of opportunity to post my '11 retrospectives tonight. Didn't mean to distract from the contest.

Congrats on your win and good luck with the contest. You're doing great!

:fistbump:

8. No need to apologize
I don't think it distracted at all. To be honest, the "distraction" potential didn't cross my mind at all. What immediately came to mind was happiness that you were posting photos (and a huge treasure trove of them ) outside of the contests. It's been a while and I've missed seeing your photos (and I'm sure many others feel the same).

2. NV Whino -
do you hear me say SPECTACULAR? What a sendoff to what I suspect will be one of our most intriguing contests in a while.
I right clicked on the image, and the presentation of it sitting back on the page makes the black and white, and the balance, even more pronounced. I love it!

4. Thank you.
I've always been fascinated by the backs of sunflowers.

7. rightly so...
driving up to Oregon from California yesterday, we passed field after field of sunflowers with the backs of their head to us... didn't stop for a picture but none certainly would have been as pleasant as yours!

13. Black and white is so beautiful. He really nails the HDR.
I find B&W HDR much more appealing than color. That image would not have worked in color.

Imagine the state of the art if color photography was invented first.

15. The entries are thrilling to me. Also the excitement the subject is generating.
Imagine if we did b/w more often, how we would progress in it! I for one had a set of potentials ready, made my links, pasted them in to look at them "in place" as I do when I make my choice, and threw them out.
I'm back at work, and havin' fun and learning some stuff looking at the beautiful entries. They surpass my expectations.

16. Black and white frees you from expectations. People expect a stop sign to be
a particular shade of red.

19. Bluedigger, your title suggests the levity is intentional,
and I must tell you, I almost spit on my screen laughing. Mom came running. So it's a solid success around here.

I thought the contest could use a little change of pace.;-)

I was going to title it "Harsh Pubes? You go girl!" but I chickened out.:P

25. Cassandra...your pic evokes something ethreal almost
kind of like stepping into Narnia. But it's more emotional rather than visual. It resonates with me.

would think of the poem but runs through my mind when looking at the photo. Course I also went to the second floor and saw how weak/dangerous it really was.

38. Aw thank you.
That was my stair photo I couldn't find for that contest, since it was on film. Least this time it was scanned so easier to find. It is in the "Beehive" a set 3 early 1700's building remains.

I have been enjoying Sofia photos and teasing Blue in CA that I think she lost her son somewhere between the 2 places. If her camera cost too much to fix tell her to put a paypal donate button on her page. I would donate. Thinking a few others would too. :)

Also would like to here how that Bula (?) ball is working for your knee now that more time has passed.
