my hike today... lots of photos
in Yosemite... I only had a day so I decided to hike Vernal Falls and Sentinel Dome... so delighted with Vernal that I went to Nevada Falls and forest fires kept me from hiking near Glacier Point and the smoke kept me from getting good pictures of Half Dome... I'm no Ansel Adams anyways so I just clicked away on auto. The first picture is Rangers still searching for two of the bodies... so sad. I did have a bit of morbid curiousity about going up to the top of Vernal Falls...

I enhanced the color a bit to highlight the rainbow... I know why they call it "Mist Trail"

Tunnel View... should be able to see Half Dome but not today

1. I feel as if I am there
Which is a good thing.......not sure if I will ever go to Yosemite physically, although an airplane I was on once dipped down to give us a view.

Very sad and strange about all the tragedies there lately. Sometimes I get that morbid curiousity too.

I love it that you highlighted the rainbow.

All of these are nice. I actually like the smoke in some of them because it captures a slice of time a bit more than the standard picture perfect clear postcard like landscape.

3. never dreamed that I would be hiking in Yosemite
a few years back... I was content to stay put and work in my garden. I was forced to take this job that keeps me traveling; been doing it for over 6 years. I love the work; hate not having a home (although I always feel somewhat at home in the forests). I resolved to take advantage of every hiking opportunity that came along(I had hiked all the peaks in Vermont before I left).

I tell my partner everytime I head out that if I die on the trail, I will have died happy! ("Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life." ~Rachel Carson)

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." ~John Muir, 1913

6. I'm only able to say: I love all of what you are showing and how you are showing it.
ESPECIALLY the half dome. I also love the poems and sentiments. Want to add: "Happiness is where I am" Picasso.

When I'm less in need of sleep I will look at these again.
Thank You!

7. went through Angel's Camp on the way
got turned around about 12 miles down the road because of a fire and had to return to Angel's Camp and take a long way around... So, we decided to go up and see Mark Twain's camp up on Jackass Hill Road ...and to further celebrate our detour I paid $1.00 to download (on my Kindle) "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" and read it aloud...
