More fall pics
Just don't know which to use if any. We just haven't had must of a fall this year. Something about no frost. So here is what I got Saturday.

Part of a very very big tree hiding in the woods at the top of a hill.

same tree as above but different times of the day.

A little tree.

Leaf

Snapshot of the very very big tree that made the big man look little. I never thought about needing a wide angle lens in the woods with no trail. Will have to go back with the wide angle.

Big tree again, still can't do it justice.

And special for F. Gordon a color infrared. (Combined an infrared with a color shot overlay.) I spent most of my time playing with the new IF filter. I really need more time to go out and play with the IF.

So any worth using in the contest? Help me pick so I don't have to use Puzzles.

1. Great photos CC
I love the first two, looking up into the tree. Pretty contrast with the dark trunk and gold leaves.

2. You're going to dis' Puzzles?
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 12:56 AM by F.Gordon

I'm on Ms F's notebook right now so I can't see pixie dust so well, but even so.... from what I can see... they are all awesome. I'm terrible at picking other peoples shots, but I love "up tree" shots.

My pick? The infrared. If it looks that good on the notebook....

I hope to have some good infrared to share in December.

Edit: Ok, Ms F took back her notebook. I can SEE. First up tree shot is very very nice. The forest shot with the single tree standing out is another. I'm still leaning toward the IF because its different and waaay kewl. Just consider the source.

4. Actually I like it because it
has a moody feel to it but so many don't use photoshop or comparable programs I thought of it as a cheat since I had to combine two photos to add the color to the infrared. Though must say that there is now another item on the list infrared things I need more time for.

You still need to send a pm about where in PA you will be.

3. I like the leaf...
...although the perspective on the first two is pretty awesome.

5. I wish I could get the size of
that tree to translate in a photo. I had to go measure the trunk of my maple (21 foot circumference) since that tree dwarfed it. There is an old stone house from the 1700's and an old mill not far from the tree. I need to find someone over there to question. That tree is shaped like a shade tree, not like a tree that grew in a forest. So thinking maybe it used to be farmland.
so what does all this have to do with the perspective shots? Some of those branches were bigger around than my maple trees trunk. Debating on blowing off house work and going out again to shoot. Need to find unity.

6. Adding some more "fall" pics
From the yard this time.

The maple tree trying to look fallish.

Leaves in grass.

Leaves on deck.

Mums

More mums.

And even more mums. They are a fall flower.

Did I mention there hasn't been much of a fall yet here? A summer flower in November.

And another summer flower in November.

And summer flower in November IF.

8. Flowers?
Where the heck do you live? The rain forest? Please don't ask me to pick. I'm terrible at that. The leaf/leaves shots are falltacular!!! (yea, it's a corny "word") :eyes:

The flower shots are beautiful and might make for a nice change in the fall entries.

My take on your "cheating" comment? I don't think there is any rule that says you can't "photoshop" or use non-conventional photography. But I could be wrong. There was a discussion on this awhile ago but I don't think anything was determined from it. I say go for it. But I say a lot of things..... ... 99% of which is either gibberish or out of context with the discussion.
:dunce:

9. Well where I live should have no flowers
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 11:19 PM by CC
except maybe mums this time of year but our coldest day has been in the mid to high 60's so far this fall. Hell it was in the high 70's the other day. The downside is we will probably get hit with terrible way below the normal cold temps and ice or snow in Jan and Feb. to make us pay for the mild fall. We can't even claim its an indian summer yet because we haven't had a frost.
In the cheating, it was more a only fair thing when a lot of people don't have or use photoshop. BTW if you look closely you will see that the infrared and the little tree shot are of the same thing. Have to focus the camera etc before putting the filter on so took the pic with both.

7. The 'very very big tree' is incredibly cool :)
It looks like something you'd see come to life in say . . . The Wizard of Oz or a Harry Potter film :).

11. The tree was so big that
it looked like a great elf home to me. Or like the grandfather tree and it would walk over you if you carve on it. (There were hundreds of names and dates carved on it)

10. It looks like the haunted forest I used to hang out in
At Stones River National Civil War Battlefield in M'Boro, Tennessee.

You captured the spirit trees!

12. Now that is a good name for the tree.
You hit it with spirit tree. Photos just do not do it justice though. Thanks.

13. I love the IF shot.
It has an "other dimension" quality that I find relaxing and appealing.
I will have to learn how to do that.
It probably wouldn't sell in The Lounge where oversaturation rules, but I love the shot.

I hope CC enters one of the IF shots (I see another down thread that is wonderful)... but I understand if she decides not to.

22. The IF is fun. Still learning here
though and using digital which helps some and then not since they are all red in camera. Going to have to try it on rainy days, foggy days and on streams. Instead of bright sunlight.

it some since it now has a name. Might go play with it some more. Haven't quite started on unity though. Having too much fun with fall.

21. I was thinking we should slip in some "unity"
while the polls are up in the lounge. Just something to do while we're waiting, and just for fun, no contest involved.

23. That's an idea. And there were a few
that were interested. I didn't know I would have so much fun on fall since we hadn't had much until last week and it last maybe 3 days.

18. I liked them all
Not much help :D

The second pic has a very interesting structure on the tree, it almost looks like it's made of elephant skin or something. Very sleek.
But for the contest, maybe the pic below that or the last - I liked both very much.

20. Its bark is all smooth even
if it probably has a 30 plus foot diameter. I think it is an American Beech tree. Least that was the closest I could find that looks like it.
