THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!
The theme for the next Photo Group contest is 'FALL'. However, as host, I reserve the right to insist on a 'unity' challenge here within the group in the near future. I'm not letting you guys off that easy.

SO...start taking your autumn type pictures (or I suppose you could take a picture of a waterFALL or someone FALLing down - whatever). Anyway, I'll give you a couple of weeks. I haven't decided on a cut-off date yet.

2. What's that mean, a "unity challenge"?

3. A challenge is just something we do here
when a topic doesn't quite make it to the "contest" stage but people still might want to post some pictures about it. My original chosen topic this month was "unity," which I liked, but a lot of people didn't, so by majority vote "fall" has become the subject for the official contest. However, I would still like to see what people can do with the topic of "unity," and we'll just keep them here in the group. F.Gordon was the culprit who originally came up with these "challenge" things, but they have been kind of fun in the past.

4. I have a question about challenges.
Since they're not really contests, can I submit some photo art, like a collage I made from a series of my pictures? I'm specifically talking aobut the unity theme, but I guess it's a fair question in general.

And, yeah, the fall thing sounds good, though now I want to trip people to get the action shots. :silly:

5. I think since a challenge isn't "official"
that anything goes.

6. My sense of it that whoever does the work gets to decide the "rules,"
both for contests and challenges, and for any other call-up technique used to gather up a collection of photographs from participants in this forum. In general, past practice has been that hosts are pretty willing to leave decisions about what is appropriate up to the photographers.

7. Ask bvar22
Unless I dreamed it I believe bvar22 volunteered to host the Unity Challenge.
