Who cares what my Living Room looks like tonight, and why?
As I've said before I live 3 blocks from the UNC School of the Arts. It has a film school along with Dance/Music/Drama and Visual Arts curriculums.

You also know that my yard is not just a yard. People look and shake their heads.
And so did some film students looking for a location to film a student film about an elderly woman who has withdrawn from society and lives in her living room that doubles as a studio.

They needed a porch, a living room and a kitchen.
Since in my family we all paint and take photos they felt right at home once they stepped inside.

I said OK, and they came in today to set the stage, using a lot of what was already there, my own art supplies and a lot of imagination.

What I liked is that they took their own photos of before, and signed papers they would put it back into the same condition after.

So, tomorrow, the fun of shooting a film begins.

1. They shake their heads because
they lust for your yard art and they are reminding themselves how wrong it would be if they came by in the middle of the night and stole something, like you bird bird feeder. :dilemma:
I found and have since lost a picture I wanted to share with you. I didn't take it but I know you will like it. I will task myself with searching the hard drives and finding it for you.

I love that they are using your living room. I do hope they make sure you get to see the finished production. You just might get a rep at the school though. One that says you are that cool lady that gets it and is willing to help the young ones. :)

2. CC - you get it!
There is, of course, as in all things, more to it.
I've survived the rough seas of life by renting rooms to students of that school. I only now, a year ago, claimed my house for myself only.

I was the first house mother in this now world famous school when I was just barely in this country, and 22 years old.

My son graduated there, and so did my grandson.
I have gone to see the student films every year since a film school was added, and my company has been listed in the credits three times in various films.
This time it will just be me and my own name, FWIW.

I'll have a copy of the film, and quite frankly, if the actress who plays the lead were not someone hugely impressive to me and beyond locally, I might have said: No, thanks.

It's fun though. It's fun to be surrounded by the young and enthusiastic, who look at me and pull out their exquisite best behavior because they were taught, and because they want what you have.
It's also such fun to see talent in action, and to see them appreciate us older folk.

Last night they needed a table. They had not been in my workshop which is my basement.
I said come down and pick one. I took them to the area where I store my oil paints, palettes, brushes next to the easel and the canvasses.
The adorable precious 20 year old property mistress for the film got tears in her eyes and said: I not only want the table, I want everything on it.

(can you tell I'm having fun?)

4. It is great to know that history of you, your family and the school.
I love the circle of it all.
