Harbingers of fall - but only if you look hard
It was a gorgeous afternoon I went to the lake and rowed a boat.
Soon it will be all ablaze in fall color, but today it was calm and green.

If you don't like these, all I can say is: "... you needed to be there."

1. How pretty!
And it is coming, isn't it? High in the 90s here today still............

The light is wonderful in these! Thanks for posting.

2. Thanks, it's so dear of you to show and comment.
I actually thought of you this afternoon. Sitting in the Kayak and stalking the ducks.
But I can't do them justice the way you can.

3. Love the bridges!!
We have a new bicycle trail here that people are raving about even though the official opening isn't for a couple of weeks. I like the idea of getting photos of people cycling. I'm going to scout out locations. It makes a regular landscape more interesting to have a bicyclist or two in it. Your photos reminded me of that. I love the bicycles on the bridge!

I got a pretty good picture of the ducks the other day, but just didn't have the nerve to include them in the group! We are just blessed with mostly cooperative ducks!

Your afternoon at the park looks fun.

5. Until I stopped at the side of the road
of a third hand store in Lexington NC (the BBQ capital of the world 15 miles from my home) and found a very affordable used Kayak sitting there waiting for me I rode the bike trail around that lake infrequently but with great joy.
It's seven miles, and then there are 10 more to get to it and back home.

Now,
I throw the kayak on the back of my truck, drive to the dock in 7 min. and I'm off.

Today, I thought carefully about it and eased my way back to the dock, put the camera the ipod and the cellphone on the wooden planks of it, carefully butt-scraped my way to the stop and flipped the Kayak and fell in.

With dripping clothes and a big smile I walked to collect my stuff.
I have a waterproof box on order to hold it. I can't wait to be out there in the fall and want my camera to still be operative.

6. eh, funny story
Hubby has a truck but not me. I have a kayak ready to be transported to the Tennessee River. I was wondering about pictures from a kayak! It's hard enough from the bass boat, what with the spray (especially when hubby forgets to pull up the electric motor), the barges making waves, etc. But at least I don't generally tump out of it................. even so, my rule of thumb is I refuse to get in any kind of a boat in the kind of weather where I will freeze to death before I could swim to shore.

At least this happened to you in warm weather! You might need a boat launch ramp instead of a dock (???) But the important thing is that your camera was safe and sound................

7. Anytime I'm out on the water
I'm happy!

Although all great shots, I particularly like #3 and #4.

It's not easy taking photos from a boat!

8. There is just something about that third shot...
...I love the composition, the echoing of color and shape, and the quietude of it! I do ocean kayaking so would never dream of taking my camera but often wish I had a waterproof one. You are a brave lady Mira! Loved your story!
