Pelican Poop
Hemingway lived in a house, the first residence of his in Key West, that now has the Pelican Poop store at the street level.
If you buy 10 dollars worth of merchandise, you can look at the yard and garden area where he wrote " A farewell to Arms".
If you don't it's 2 bucks - and frankly - there wasn't any Pelican poop worth buying.
We paid the 2 bucks.

Here is the beautifully appointed garden. I took some photos of it a year or so ago, and posted them, so I won't do that again.
But I don't think I told what the ticket taker said about two people he found, after they simply did not re-appear for a long time, having a really sexy time in this pool, with the clothes leading a trail to the water.

It was a hot hot day, so I took a picture of the fountain spritzing some water

One more, of the entrance to the building where Hemingway lived, as it looks now
I can't keep Mom out of the photos, now that she knows I post them on DU. I'm kidding, of course.

And finally, a street shot near Mallory Square, the southern most spot in the US of A.

Thanks to all of you for the feedback. Very sweet of you. It's a grounding exercise for me to post a few at night.
I had a call today: " Are you ever going to be working again?" I said to the man "Not this month, I am away I need to look after my mother right now. You surely know how that is." He said he did.

I wonder how I will explain my tan.

2. Hi! Thanks, ElfinYeti.
I saw you say you're off to Orlando! That's clearly across the country for you, and if it's a first visit you will find it fun and interesting.
I'm as far from Orlando right now, in the heart of the Keys, as I am from Orlando when I'm home in NC.
Have a great time, and show us some photos. PLEASE

5. It's not a fun trip...
... a convention -- probably won't see the outside of the hotel... sigh. Camera will stay home.

6. I am as familiar with the Orlando Convention Center as I am my back pocket.
I may have been to between 5-8 conventions there, working a booth.

It's right on International Drive, where lots of fun stuff is to be experienced. A camera is a must on a first visit.
There are evenings to be spent after the days on the Convention floor, the Center closes down around 5. Lots of daylight, lots of cool things to see on a first visit.

At least take a simple camera. You won't regret it. If your hotel is near the convention center, you're in the middle of lots of activity and weirdness. (Even if it isn't :))
And share your thoughts and sights please.

Be prepared.

7. You're killin' me!
I did this same convention last year -- staying at the Marriott -- goes until midnight and then we meet with people until the wee hours (it's a Mona Vie marathon of endurance!). No chance to get away but maybe I'll stash the camera and see what I can find...

8. Your Mom seems to be pretty energetic.
Is her energy holding up well on this trip?

Now, if we could just get her to take a photo or 2 of ....YOU!
