Some shots from my sabbatical.
While I was barely on DU for a month or so, I was also barely behind a camera. Hope to rectify that this week as the work schedule eases into August doldrums. But here are a few.

Chester Hill Road overlooking the Don Valley:

Taken about 10 minutes before my "wildly successful" contest entry:

Our new dining room table, the find of the century:

1. My dear JeffR!
Very nice!

I'm especially intrigued by your new dining room table...it looks wonderful. But what view did you give us? Is this the top, the sides, what?

I am completely puzzled!

2. Oops. I should have specified.
This shot is part of the table top, under glass. We need to have a custom glass top prepared, but our old glass table top is serving to keep the table protected for now.

Thanks!

5. Welcome back, Jeff!
I'm so glad you've returned and with some wonderful photos, too. I too was intrigued by the table photo, glad you explained that. ;)

Those red sunset shots are amazing! :hi:

8. Thanks, hippywife!
There's a school across the street from us. I tend to run over to the school yard if it's an interesting late day sky. Got lucky that day. We've had skies this summer the likes of which I haven't seen since my Savannah days. Humidity's 94% right now.

I'm glad to be back here. I almost decided not to return, but where is there a better bunch of people than in this group? Nowhere!

13. Well, maybe.
But given my cooking, uh, skills, I'm just a lurker there. I have become addicted to the Food Network, mostly because there's not much else worth watching these days.

9. Thank you! After living here for a long time, I just found out about that lookout.
I'm going to return at dusk sometime and try some long exposures.

10. More than a song, but it was a good deal.
We'd gone to look for a coffee table to replace the one our younger dog chewed up. We found one we liked, and then in one of several large rooms full of incredible Indian furniture, we found the dining table. So we ended up getting both.

:)
