my escaped canary.

(I'm of course clueless - but I did at one time breed canaries, and this beautiful bird comes close in size, shape and beak.)

2. Possibly an American goldfinch
I can't see the wings,but it looks like there is black and white on them. If so, it's a goldfinch (male). He's puffed up his head feathers to look like he has a tuft, but he doesn't really.

and all who answered. What this tells me is I should ALWAYS carry my camera, so I can get shots like this....... :) I've never seen one of these birds before and I'm damn near 60 years old! :blush:
