Canoeing the Lower Buffalo River
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 07:55 PM by BrightKnight
I have posted few images taken while canoeing the Buffalo River through the Lower Buffalo Wilderness Area. The image quality is not too bad for a waterproof point and shoot camera.

1. nice!
I love getting river reflections like that. What about the rapids? Isn't the river known for rapids? Did you get in the water for a swim, ever?

At some point I'm getting a kayak at the Tennessee River--more for paddling around the creek, LOL. But I would like a waterproof camera as well.

4. I went in the river frequently to cool off.

Thankfully, never with my gear. The water was cool, clear and very pleasant. When I reached the White River the water was very rapid and ice cold. The White River water comes from the bottom of a hydro electric dam.

There were a few rapids on the Lower Buffalo river. The last 40 or 50 miles is generally wide and slow this time of year. The upper half of the river is much steeper and it can be bound by cliffs on both sites. The last time I did the upper half the river was very high with lots of down trees.

Twenty people drown on the Little Missouri River in or near the Ouachita National Forest a few days after my trip. The Little Missouri River is not too far from the Buffalo. Any river can be dangerous when the weather turns bad.

2. I love the river level view
I can't see the first three, though.

3. Oops! I think that I corrected the problem.
The Smugmug security settings can be a bit frustrating at times.
