California winter
Thought you all needed a little break from the snow. Mustard, palm trees and Mt St. Helena in the clouds.

2. It's been raining for the last couple of weeks
It was a delight to see the sun on the mustard.

4. Have you been to the top of Mt. St. Helena, NV Whino?
There is a dirt road that runs from the Robert Louis Stevenson Park up to the CDF lookout at the top. On a clear day the view is incredible. My dad worked that lookout a couple of summers when I was a kid.

Even though that is one steep mountain, the hike isn't bad because the road is switchbacked most of the way up.

Mustard flowers and Mt. St. Helena: classic Napa Valley images! :)

Looks like we'll get some sun this week, returning to rain next week.

5. I've climbed the mountain twice... in my younger days.
Once for the classic new year's climb. I've long since been out of shape to make that climb again–even on the fire road.

When I went up, the glider port was still in operation. What a treat to be above the gliders whooshing below you along with the Peregrines and red tails.

8. I went to the top last year
I "climbed the mountain" (i.e., walked up the fire road) last Father's Day. It's a beautiful place. Here are a few pictures.

9. Thanks for posting those.
I see the rock climbers were out in force.

Have you ever "climbed" the other side of the road (where you park at RLS Stat Park) to the top of the Palisades? It's a much easier trail and a lot of fun.

7. The color reminds me of forsythia; the first to bloom in New England
I'll have to shoot some pictures to share come Spring.

Thank you for the colorful break.
