My, what a lovely garden...
While on walk-about today, I came a cross a lovely garden which I just had to photograph and share with you. As I was reaching into my bag for the camera, I looked up and saw the neighbour's garden. They aren't very good pictures, but hopefully you will appreciate them anyway. Here's the first one. As you can see, it's a tidy, well-cared for little space. The tiny bridge is very cute.

Anyway, as I was saying, a couple of doors down from this garden was another which is, I think, even more stunning. Yes, I'm using the word "stunning" because we didn't make any resolutions to avoid it this year and I think it applies in this case. This garden, well... erm... well it speaks for itself. Very well in fact. And yes, I am stalling. I want you to get the full impact of this garden and that means not scrolling down too fast.

.

So, prepare yourselves

.
.
.
Don't scroll too fast
.
.
.
Here it is, in all it's glory
.
.
.

Now, here are some closer pictures of the details.

I wish I'd taken a picture of the dead-eyed rat (chipmunk? squirrel?) statues that looked like they'd been huffing glue on the silk flowers, but they looked scarily hungry and it seemed safest to leave them alone.

This one shows the first garden in the background. What do you think the neighbour in the middle thinks about all this?

These are obviously both very well-loved gardens and I think I've fallen in love with their quirkiness. They're both unique in completely different ways. They're almost polar opposites living side-by-side.

1. Amazing!
What really gets me is the manicured lawn underneath all that. Check back in the spring and see if you can catch them cutting the grass. The prep work must take way longer than the mowing.

3. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one
I'll check on the lawn, but I suspect it's mostly moss. It tends to take over here. The ornaments all look well maintained and clean, so they must spend a lot of time tending the garden. I'll see if I can catch them in the act. If only to find out whose garden it is.

2. Yes, it's
stunning alright. Like a taser is stunning or sticking a wet finger into an electric socket is stunning. It does get your attention.

I do kind of like the pink flamingos, though. Always wanted a couple of those for my yard. A little bit of kitch goes a long way. :-)

4. Isn't it?
It's like a carnival for the eyes. Too much to take in at any one time. The whole is overwhelming and needs to be broken down into small manageable pieces. There's a little bit of something for everyone in this garden - flamingos, gnomes, windmills, whirligigs...

That second detail of the very busy yard has STILL LIFE written ALL over it! Especially that cherub with the wild eye in front of the cow. That really stands out amidst all of that.

There has got to be some background story on these neighbors. Either they are related to one another or there is some battle going on here between each other, or them against the rest of the neighborhood. Wouldn't you love to know what it is?

Great shots, hon. :hi:

8. There must be some connection between them
They've both got the little bridges and those aren't exactly common garden features. I've never seen them anywhere else. Rivals or partners, do you think? Another house nearby still has a giant inflatable, but slightly deflated, snowman and giant reindeer. Maybe it's contagious?

I've got an entry picked out for the contest, but didn't have time to dig it out last night. Hopefully the spots won't fill up before tonight.

6. Wow!!
I rather like the quirkiness of people being expressed in this way. But I think I'd rather it be down the street than next door!

And, if that were here, most of this stuff would probably be ripped off in short order.

7. LOL!
I love the quirkiness, too. I just keep looking at it and thinking how much plastic they are keeping out of the landfill.

10. Kitsch - and then Kitsch squared.
The first one is a teaser and the second one is the whole museum.
Imagine what the second one's house looks like inside. Probably dried flowers and wreaths on the walls, paths through knick knacks and doilies on top of doilies. Makes me wonder if they wear normal clothes.

Tasteless and theme-less and priceless.
Scary.
I think befriending the keepers of yard II would be fascinating, and if it's only long enough to find out "what were you thinking?"

You could suggest they get rid of the tree to gain a little more architecture for more "art" work.
I ramble.
This blows my mind, as you can tell.
