Chihuly!
...well, not exactly...gotta' get the tripod fixed; my shaky hands are too much for the monopod on a 6 sec. exposure, even with a shutter delay.

Trying to learn the manual settings...

2. Seeing these photos bursting with color takes me back
Chihuly - that is a magical name to me

These were in Phoenix botanical Garden, in May 2009

This one I did not take, because, you guessed it, that's me in front of the sculpture

6. De Young
Saw it twice. I remember Kenneth Baker, the art critic for the SF Chronicle, giving it a really bad review. But for what it's worth, it got people into the museum. Both times I went it was crowded and it was during the week.

Some of the stuff that passes for art these days never ceases to amaze me, particularly the conceptual stuff.

I enjoyed Chihuly and I don't care if Kenneth Baker does think it's art. So there.

8. To borrow, and mangle, a famous quote by Andrew Jackson...
"Kenneth Baker has made his decision, now let him demonstrate that he can do better (or as well)."

9. Nice!
Here is one I took some time back, of the Fiori Di Como ceiling installation at the Bellagio in Las Vegas (this is only a very small part of the very large ceiling display):
