A few photos from my life in 2009--nine to be exact
Jeff inspired me. And if I am supposed to do a retrospective, today is the day, because of visiting family until the New Year. (I don't remember posting any of these in the past, but I can't guarantee it.)

Mentoring

Pizza anyone?

Taking off

Chirp

Hippo Dental Exam During Halftime

Seriously Pink

Water's Up

Tokyo Train Station

Cross Country Reflections (I've been saving this, but why?)

1. I don't remember seeing any of these before.
Nice selection! Chirp is my favorite here, a real character study. Second favorite: the dental exam. And who could resist a pizza-eating squirrel? Great shot.

And the first one looks like a time traveler just materialized in a medieval tournament.

3. well, we aren't exactly Asheville
But we have our share of characters.................I think these people meet at the park about once a month or something. I just thought it was funny that they were trying to teach this guy the art of being a knight............oh, it is the same little park that had the pizza eating squirrel. I wish it was a better picture! I might try to figure out when they do these things and go back again with my camera.

2. What a treat. I really like "chirp". That is worthy of casting it in bronze. It must be
one of your favorites, ever.
I like the water's up, a lot. The sepia is perfect.
Seriously pink and the sqirrel are both priceless.
I'm glad you showed these.

4. Thanks!
When you (and anyone else) gets a chance, I would love to see some 2009 photos that you haven't posted in the last year.

I'm actually not sure which is my favorite of the batch. I sort of like the cross country team reflected in the water--maybe because one of my daughters ran cross country.

5. Is it you I promised photos of the Queen Mary?
I don't even know if I have photos worthy of the perusal by you experts, but I do have photos with a story.

Thanks for asking.
Now that I can't do my Christmas shopping, (completely snowed in on the weekend I planned to do it)
I will write apology Christmas cards and get them out tomorrow.

Lots cheaper, eh?
and finish reading the manuscript of a friend who wrote a book,
and then......

6. Yup!
When there is a lull in your activities, maybe after the holidays, would love to see the Queen Mary pics.

One year I sent a donation to Heifer International for my Christmas list. I picked them not only because I think they are a worthy organization, but there is a way to print your own donor cards on the website. It is by honor code. I guess they wanted to get out of the business of sending those out. I once worked for a nonprofit and it is sort of a pain.

7. The hippo dental exam is too cute
Chirp is also one of my favourites here.

I think that train station is near where I stayed in Tokyo (Shinagawa). Queen's Isetan is a fancy, overpriced grocery store where I'd pick up discounted bentos for dinner.

8. thanks
Yep, my daughter lives about a 15 minute walk from there (Shinagawa) I think. (She just kind of led me around so I never really got my bearings). I do think we went to that grocery store once, too!

I thought it was pretty interesting building. Let's put it this way--I don't see ANY type of train station much, so most of the ones I do see seem interesting.

9. Nice photos, Celebration.
I'm liking that "Chirp" pic best myself. Anyone who can get a decent bird picture is pretty special in my book. :)

10. Thanks--Even though I am not really a birdwatcher
I have to say that I would like "Chirp" a bit better if it were something a little less common than a mockingbird. Getting pictures of mockingbirds is only slightly more difficult than getting pictures of squirrels.

But, I did get it in mid chirp, and I like the top of the tree perch.

Why don't cardinals ever perch on the top of trees. I'd love a picture of that. I would love ANY clear unobstructed view of a cardinal that isn't at a birdfeeder.

11. As a fairly recent newbie
I can honestly say I've not seen any one of those. They are really so interesting. Several of those telling a whole story in one still shot. As a person who's tried to take pics of birds....I know 1st hand how patient one needs to be to get a decent shot.

I enjoyed these!

12. Thanks. Telling a story
I actually love story telling, but I'm not all that great at it. (I'm not particularly verbal.) It is much easier for me to try to tell a story through photos. Anyway, if these tell a story it is because I juat take pictures where I go, rather than go somewhere to take pictures. There's a bit of an overlap because sometimes I will decide to go somewhere because of the possibility of pictures, I have to admit.

Let's just say I don't get up at 2am to go take photos (although if I had an Olympic moon around here it would make it worth it).

And, I think it's really fun to try to stalk birds.
