The pitcher plant loves meat. In the bottom of the pitchers are digestive juices waiting for insects, and some of them large enough to trap birds or RATS

2. wow, new cool plants!
The foliage in the top two looks exactly like pitchers!! I need some of those around here for mosquitos. That fern looks like it is growing pinecones!!??? I have a thing for lily pads anyway. Very nice! Thanks.

4. It is a kind of palm, not a fern - maybe sago or coontie.

6. The plants in the bottom photo grow here, Mira.
They take a beating when the temp drops, but come back in full force by early summer.

Thank you so much for taking us along with you on vacation.
My favorite way to travel now is via the Photo forum.
