How not to run a Photo Contest...
No, not the one I'm running right now, the one the City of Toronto is (theoretically) running. Submissions closed on June 12, with 4,281 photos submitted. IIRC, winners were supposed to be determined in August, but a 39-day civic workers strike interfered with the timetable. Now we're past the ides of November and still no results. For that matter, little info from the city at all.

Entries can be seen here:

My entries are here:

I promise to run our November contest somewhat more punctiliously.

1. If the DU Photo Group calls for a walkout would that help replicate things?
Seriously, you run a smooth contest. And I think I remember you posting some of those shots here at DU; in any case, that is a very nice portfolio of entries. For whatever reason, "Shp Channel" really has an emotive quality for me.

Hope Toronto gets their act together soon!

2. Thanks!
A walkout might be a fun group activity, or at least something we haven't tried yet.

3. To match volume...
To get close to matching the volume of entries, we could also have a really open topic, allow multiple entries per person, and abolish the 30 submission limit...
Combine that with the walkout, and I think we're set.
