A mother moose and her young son stopped by this morning for a snack of dead flowers.

Almost impossible to get a good shot shooting into the sun with all the ice crystals in the air, but I tried anyway.

The boy looks a little chilly.

Mmm, dried daisies.

I'm guessing the quality of these shots would have been a bit better if I had remembered to change the ISO, which was set at 6400!!

P.S. These are the first photos I've posted taken with my new ... Canon 7D. HullBoss is at it again. Have I mentioned how spoiled I am?

This takes really amazing little HD movies. I need to figure out how to download them onto my computer, but they look really good on the LED.

1. In my humble opinion
I think you captured the beauty of the moment perfectly.

Well done.

2. Aw, thanks.
 It's just I wanted to kick myself when I realized I had made that mistake, and then by the time I realized and changed back to ISO 100, the two moose were wandering on down the street. At least I had changed the white balance from tungsten, or these would have been REALLY blue.

3. The third one begs a caption.
"What is it with people and their cameras?!"

Congrats on the new hardware! Now let's see how it does at 100 ISO.:)

4. I will certainly be doing that soon,
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 11:35 PM by Blue_In_AK
as soon as I work up the courage to go out in the very cold weather. I wanted to today, but it was so nice and toasty in the house, and I just couldn't make myself go out any further than for these few moose shots (most of which were completely blown out because of the ISO error) and to the mailbox.

I think the camera is going to be a lot of fun, especially once I learn all the new little features. I didn't want to brag too much about it, but I'm really quite thrilled.

Now I just need to figure out how to use all its features. I'm kind of interested in this video bit...the quality, at least as seen on the LED, was pretty amazing. Maybe soon I can post videos for you guys, too. It's been hard to capture Alaska's beauty is mere single shots...they look good, but they fall far short of portraying the immenseness of this place. Video would be a great tool to add.

I'm also going to figure out this PhotoStitch program. I like wide.

5. Would love to see some good video footage of locations
where you've taken photos. And some panoramas!

6. So does that mean ...
you are gifting me your old camera. ;-) I think everyone can agree that I need more options to shoot Aiman. Who's with me??
