5. That is what has drawn me to it every time we go to Fort Point....
that, and the fact the one parks directly in front of it (it's looooong). :D

6. The links aren't much smaller in person; I suspect that you have noticed them
if you have ever driven down to Ft. Point (the Civil War-era fort under the Golden Gate, on the City side.) It is the chain which runs along the breakwater between the Bay and the parking area.

If you've not been there yet I would recommend a visit...VERY photogenic. :D

10. I know exactly what you aare talking about.
I probably photographed them myself at some point. Although my fascination with the arches may have distracted me.

Beautiful.

8. Thankyou Mz Pip...alfredo pointed me in the direction of cropping out the concrete...

and I decided to go ahead and split the chain into two shots rather than one.

Have you been to Fort Point? Well worth the drive (a few minutes for you) over to The City side of the Golden Gate. :D :hi:

11. Oh,my.gosh
I can feel the texture through my monitor.

Did you happen to lean and sniff? I know that sounds strange, but I'm a huge scent person along with sight and texture. I've often picked up intriguing rocks on walks to feel and sniff. I may have a short stay here after that revelation. lol

13. Thankyou MerryBlooms...it was a team effort...
but for my part, I did no sniffing. :D One of the best things about the Photo Group is the willingness of people here to help each other figure out photo problems. That is pretty much how this got done.

WannaJumpMyScooter PM'ed me a copy that he processed which looks VERY cool, but I'll leave it to him to post it.

:hi:

14. Thanks Jeff, I do like 'em! And it was a team effort!
And I thank you for your input to it. :hi: It reminded me a bit of the time, after I first came into the Group a couple of years ago, that you started a "problem photo" thread.

This is what I need to do a bit more often (but not so often as to be a pain); rather than simply posting photos, I should ask how to improve some of those shots.

I am using a "digital tutorial" site hosted by Geoff Lawrence.com to try to really nail down the fundamentals of how cameras function to produce given effects. alfredo also inspired me to order a monopod and quick-release head, which should be easier to cart around than my tripod (which usually doesn't make it out of the house).

WannaJumpMyScooter PM'ed me a very nice rendition of my original shot, in which he improved it greatly by some layered processing; I will leave it to him to post it if he so chooses, but it was pretty cool.

15. This place is the best.
And thanks to you and alfredo for reminding me that a monopod has been on my must-buy list for ages, yet I never have got around to getting one. Soon, if I remember.

16. This place is the best; I rarely post outside of the Photo Group anymore...
I consider myself a Progressive, with a strong burden for the maintainance of Church/State separation (which is where most of my physical activism comes in) but I just don't have as much of a fire in my belly for arguing about politics as many people in the other groups.

But I really, really like the Photo Group. :D

17. Feel the same way.
It's wearying and ultimately pretty circular in the big forums. This little nook feels like a safehouse in the midst of some Mad Max sequel.
