1. I admit that my inept handling of the depth-of-field doesn't really help this shot.

2. Could it be the back light that makes the chain and background merge?

4. I don't know, but I'll see what I can do with it.
Thankyou again for your help. :)

6. It could be; the day was sunny and crisp, with a lot of light coming off of the Bay.

8. It just needs to be seen differently. I cropped it real close and it changed
the character of the image. The chain has great texture and color. I'm sure you can make a very good image with what you have.

I'm off to bed.

3. I like it.
And like this one better than the second. I don't think it is the DOF that is causing the "resting against the surface" thing. I think it is more that there is nothing to give it scale. Shadows might help give it distance from the cement or even a leaf of something that we would know the scale of. Then again I may have no idea at all but love the chain's texture.

5. Thankyou CC...I agree that it lacks a referent for scale...

I had hoped the rust colored stains on the wet concrete would do it, but no go.

And the chain's texture has fascinated me every time we go to this place. It runs along the breakwater at Fort Point, a Civil War-era fort directly beneath the Golden Gate Bridge.

I finally got the picture of the texture I wanted, but the darn thing looks like it is embedded in that concrete.

Thankyou for taking the time to weigh in. :) :hi:

9. I did not get to see the first version,
but this one is fun for the colors and texture.

The monitor I am currently using is uncalibrated, but you might try bumping up the contrast just a little.

10. That is the first version Maniac Joe; I took some advice from alfredo...
and finally ended up with a version I liked in "Chain Chopped." :D
