nikon new patents seem to point to
a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera... i.e. a digital rangefinder

2. looks like it
the body's patents are either not filed, or are combined with others... from what I read today it appears it will be a rangefinder with a 4/3 17mm sensor with the first two lenses a 21 f1.2 and a 85 f1.4

they have to be watching leica's m9 fly off shelves with a 6month delivery at 11k a unit and drooling.

7. They have good points to them. They are lighter, more compact. If the bulk
of your images end up online, you really don't need to sink a lot of money into equipment.

For myself, weight is an issue. Years of carrying a mail satchel has ruined my neck, shoulders and arms. A DSLR would aggravate that old injury. My Canon G10 is as big as I can suspend around my neck without discomfort.

5. Meh...
Personally, I dislike the four-thirds format. Going from a point'n'shoot to a DSLR brought home the point that 2:1 is, by far, a better aspect ratio for photography.

6. That's why there are different sensors and formats. Some of us don't feel that way.

Hasselblad and Mamiya owners might have other thoughts about how appropriate FF and APS formats are, so it's all just a matter of personal opinion.

8. I have a disability, so I can't carry a heavy DSLR. I have to go point and shoot.
A micro 4/3 PS would be perfect for me.

9. Yes - though even a regular 4/3 can be pretty lightweight, in something like
the E-420, but m4/3 would probably suit you more.

10. Lumix has a new 4/3 that looks half way decent. GF1 is spec-d out like the
G1, but it doesn't matter, it is out of my price range.

I wouldn't got DSLR unless I was doing a lot of printing.
