Add Picture--What you WON'T use for "Titles of Songs"
I have decided against "Row, row, row your boat."

This is too politically incorrect--not exactly a feminist picture, but it looks okay to me. :) Same reason I didn't use it for "Green."

2. What would the title be?
This photo is really something!! I think there is an old song from my youth--
"Blue on Blue" (Not that many people would remember it though--

http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/bobby_vinton/blue_on_blue.html

Or is Tubular Bells the title of a song? If so I don't remember it.

4. i used this pic
in a challenge a couple of years ago - Doing strange things with light, I think was the name of it. It didn't do very well. It's my door bell chimes photographed under black light.

Turbular Bells was used in the movie "The Exorcist," if I remember correctly.

36. Short answer...
I was wondering if/when someone would ask. (Sorry I didn't respond earlier - I missed seeing your reply/question.)

The short answer: "Crow T. Robot" from Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The long answer: It's a picture of a figure of Crow included in the collector's edition of Mystery Science Theater 3000. If you're not familiar with the show, it's a series from the 80s. It was a low budget show that had the following format:
Basic setup (can't really call it a plot): One human and two robots (Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo - who looked sorta like a gum ball machine with arms and a beak) are stuck on board a space station and forced to watch bad movies.
Take an older movie (mostly sci-fi from the 50s or 60s, although some were much more recent).
Play the movie and include a scene at the beginning, end, and during the "intermission".
During the movie, show silhouettes of the 3 characters at the bottom of the screen.
While the movie is playing, all three heckle the movie.
During the intermission, they often play a mini-film (and heckle that) - often the "informative" educational films they show to high school students (usually only a few minutes long).

It was a great series to watch with a bunch of friends so you can add your own heckling.

And the girl is the one he made friends with on the beach. I know her first name and hometown, and nothing else. I have to admit I feel a tiny bit weird about putting some kid's picture in the photo contest without permission. I mean, what if they are Republicans? After all, it is Redneck Riviera........(though the girl was a left coaster).

I admit the picture has some emotional appeal, but I don't think I captured the greatest expressions or anything. I just think it is a cute picture, with a title that fits the contest. It probably is a better vote getter than what I am entering, but that's okay.

I'm ready to hop on the plane! But you got it a bit wrong again--Oh beautiful for Spacious Skies--and I think it may be the alternate title to the song. :) So, I think you could use that as the title instead of America the Beautiful.

50. Thanks, I mess up with the titles, don't I,
and thanks for that correction. I think it's a line in the song, or the start of a second verse. Will look it up and see.
The photo is in John Wayne country, where supposedly his movies were made : Monument Valley.

If I did not have an entry I am compelled to use, I would use this one, I think.
I have more equally beautiful, so choosing would again be hard, there, the photos take themselves there.

If you tempt me one more time, I will post another funny one, and that one IS in Sedona.

"The Fool on the Hill" Paul McCartney, The Beatles

I did an incredibly difficult climb of serious duration to the top of Cathedral Rock in Sedona.
I am not a seasoned climber, but I was with people of such distinction, who left me to make it or die during the exercise.

I want you to know that I was in the spot you see her sitting as well, and made it to an even more far out place where they took my photo.
But I posted that one at the time, so no need to repeat it.
That, at my age, would be bragging.

What I like about it, other than that it beautifully depicts the bird is that the background looks like an enlarged version of it all over again from which it kind of emerges and sharpens.

69. I kinda like it too
But it is still a pigeon! Anything that makes a pigeon look halfway decent is okay with me. I had thought the name of the song was "Saturday, Here in the Park", but, alas, it is not. It would fit better with that title. Kind of a cheesy song, but it was HUGE in the early 70s. I wouldn't even have thought to take a picture of a pigeon but it landed right next to me--a sign of why they are disrespected. The scarcer, the more respected. Just like gold, for example, compared to iron.

He likes a lot of my bird pics, but the pigeons at his workplace cause problems.

I actually have a lot of photos that could fit "Saturday in the Park." Anyone having trouble coming up with a title should consider it.

The big March on Washington September 24 - 2005.
I was there with my son and grandson, and there were Tularemia spores detected in 6 sensors around the mall.
My son got sick the following week with strong flu symptoms, which is how Rabbit fever shows itself.

73. I Can't Drive 55
This was an initial shot I did as a perspective check. I don't know if it's that obvious in this photo but in addition to the rust, both tires on this side are flat. I was going to go back and shoot a much better version, with reduced depth of field. (This version was shot using Handheld Twilight mode on the WX1 so it tried to preserve as much sharpness throughout the image as it could.) But after seeing YoungerGreenKid's photo, I couldn't really see a way to turn this into a better shot so I abandoned it. I may shoot it later for fun but it definitely won't go into the contest.

76. Not that I can tell
It's been like that for at least a couple years so I don't think it's being rehabilitated. In fact, this might be its "good" side. The front is missing all the lights and the grill. I haven't really looked at the passenger side, though. There are a few other classic cars in much better shape (most with tarps over them to protect them). Maybe it's being used as a spare parts supply for another car.

107. Here's a song about Athena by Pete Townshend..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItpasoGRFoc

Athena, I had no idea how much I'd need her
In peaceful times I hold her close and I feed her
My heart starts palpitating when I think my guess was wrong
But I think I'll get along
She's just a girl - she's a bomb
She's just a girl - she's a bomb

Athena, all I ever want to do is please her
My life has been so settled and she's the reason
Just one word from her and my troubles are long gone
But I think I'll get along
She's just a girl - she's a bomb
She's just a girl - she's a bomb

Just a girl just a girl
Just a girl just a girl
Just a girl just a girl
She's just a girl

Athena, my heart felt like a shattered glass in an acid bath
It felt like one of those flattened ants you find on a crazy path
I'd have topped myself to give her time she didn't need to ask
Was I a suicidal psychopath?
She's just a girl - she's a bomb
She's just a girl - she's a bomb

Consumed, there was a beautiful white horse I saw on a dream stage
He had a snake the size of a sewer pipe living in his rib cage
I felt like a pickled priest who was being flambed
You got me requisitioned blondie
She's just a girl - she's a bomb
She's just a girl - she's a bomb

I'm happy, I'm ecstatic
Just a girl just a girl
Just a girl just a girl
Just a girl just a girl
She's just a girl

Look into the face of a child
Measure how long you smiled
Before the memory claimed
How long would children remain
How long could children remain

Athena, you picked me up by my lapels and screamed "leave her"
I felt like waking up in heaven on an empty meter
And now you're stuck with a castrated leader
And I hate the creep, I didn't mean that
She's a bomb
I just said it
She's a bomb
I didn't mean
She's a bomb

Athena, I had no idea how much I need her
My life has been so settled and she's the reason
Just one word from her and my troubles are long gone
Ooh, but I get along
She's just a girl, she's a bomb
She's just a girl, she's a bomb

This is in the bar on deck of the Queen Mary steamer, turned into Hyatt Hotel, docked in the harbor of Long Beach CA.

The Queen Mary is a floating memorial to Art Deco.

If by chance you don't like it don't tell me.
It's been a favorite of mine for a long time, with great memories attached.

91. Awww - thanks. In answer to your question:
I'm pretty old, and have taken every opportunity to travel I've ever had if at all possible, so I've been lots of places with lots yet to see.

For many years, til the economic downturn no longer made it affordable, I traveled with my son's company to conventions where he sold his software, and I worked a booth.
I got to go all over the US that way, and know some convention cities like the back of my hand.
Especially the gambling towns.

In Long Beach I always insisted on us staying at the Queen Mary.
It's not more expensive than a regular nice hotel if you book it in advance.

Just for you, if you don't stop me, I will post a thread about the Queen, and tell a bit about it.
Just got to find the best photos, to show you what I love so much about it.
I miss it. I used to get to go every year.

Now I'm excited about showing you.

93. Great--please start a thread
Again, I am an Art Deco fan.

I've been a number of places, but definitely not the convention circuit, really. Los Angeles and environs is one place I haven't explored, although I did spend a night in an airport hotel there once. San Diego was crowded enough for me, LOL. But definitely missed out on some sights in the LA area.

Oh, and NEVER been to Vegas. I don't feel I have missed out exactly. However, I am drawn to western vacations. I've done a whole bunch of Redneck Riviera, Great Smokey Mountains, etc.

Actually I was thinking about entering this pic because I really like this shot. Or maybe it's more the circumstances. Taken on an August morning. I was coxing our boat (I prefer to row, but my crew takes turns - only fair). I'll tell you, it's difficult taking a pic while coxing, calling out commands, and maneuvering a boat down the river. But . . . it's proof positive that on this stroke port side was not catching together - LOL!

120. Lada...
Lada is the trademark of AvtoVAZ, a Russian car manufacturer in Togliatti, Samara Oblast. All AvtoVAZ vehicles sold currently are of the Lada brand but this has not always been so. Ladas were AvtoVAZ's export vehicles, the same models being sold under the Zhiguli brand on the domestic Soviet market since 1970. They became extremely popular during later decades in Russia and Eastern Europe, particularly the former Soviet bloc countries where they have become a symbol of city life. From cities like Prague to Astana, Kazakhstan Lada cars are a very common automobile on the urban landscape.

The year was 1979, my ex had just flipped our hippie van over on I85 in Gastonia NC while on a move from Richmond VA to Jacksonville FL with everything we owned in the van and the U-Haul. I took the pic with my Nikon F which came out of the popped out windshield and slid down the road while were were sliding in the van, laying on the roof.
