8. In this very case I am all in favor of the black and white. The lashes are ever
so more beautiful, and the skin color is completely suggested by the freckles already.
VERY special.

21. I agree with Mira, this photo is improved by b&w.
In the color shot I notice his freckles and skin pigment, but in the black and white I notice the focal setting, his lashes, and the concentration hinted at by his eyebrows.

I had to use a little sepia, so maybe it doesn't count.

15. Here's mine
haven't been able to take many non-baby pix lately, but I did happen to fool around with converting to grayscale for this massive flock of blackbirds in Holmes County, Ohio.

Original:

Black and white:

On reflection, I probably needed to fool around more with the B&W version - seems a little too dark.

17. Here's an interesting one

On a recent trip to NH I found a tree that was "hugging" another in an old cemetery.
The photos came out a touch blurry, so I believe that the removal of color minimizes the blur-and adds a touch of mystery.

...well, I actually made it more of a sepia tone to keep the scene "warm".

I prefer the color version though. So now we know how trees are actually conceived... with obvious love here!!

34. That is cool!
I love the b/w version. I'd be inclined to crop it a bit more tightly but still include some of the more interesting cloud textures. Very nice!

35. Cropped
You're definitely right about the crop. My excuse is that it was late and I was too tired to think about cropping so I posted them at full size. I don't know that the crop is optimal but here's a cropped set:

The b/w version is very interesting and appealing whereas the color version is nice but not terribly engaging IMHO.

40. One of those huge cruise ships that advertise intimating dancing-haute cuisine and romance.
I have watched them unload the passengers for a visit on land, and they look a lot like the people at Walmart.
Except way way more than a third are in wheel chairs.

This one was at Mallory Square in Key West at the sunset festivities.
