1. "Autumn Dance"
There is so much to admire in this photo: feeling of cold with the pavement and lighting; the breeziness of Autumn; the very appealing swirl of color from leaves, having run their lifespan, going out with a splash of color. A wonderful shot!

2. Thanks...
I like the composition of your entry. It looks like fog or mist in the background and the town in the distance. All very nice - those trees just jump out at you.

3. I agree. That's my favorite of what's been posted so far.
It really is more than a mere scene of the season. It captures the season's soul.

6. That was my first outing with a monopod. It really helps for shots in
odd places, where you as concerned with balance as you are with holding the camera still.

Team it up with your camera strap and you can really hold the camera still in marginal light.

Thanks. I almost forgot about that picture.

Check out the images before and after mine. I Like both for the mood they set.

8. And a very beautiful one it is! The first time I ever submitted a picture was
for the fall contest last year. You have a great contender and I wish you a good run and lots of votes, it's so much fun to participate.

By the way, your entry is one size too large. The longest dimension cannot exceed 800.
In Photobucket, where I post from, it's the size of a 15 " screen. You posted 17 ".

You can simply exchange out the link if you are within the timeframe of still being able to edit.
If not, you can post the new link under your first one.

10. Perfect ! You figured it out. Sorry I was not around when you asked.
I'm glad you posted that very beautiful photo. I am astonished at how much green grass there is, I guess the leaves have not yet fallen too much. It makes for intrigue as well.

I love your picture, and welcome to the group! This is a lot of fun.

However, you broke the rules........(LOL, we all did this when we first started I think).

It took me a few months before I learned how to size the picture the right way. You could get the 800 easily just by Photobucket (yours is too large--over 1000), but then you also have the byte problem. Even if you reduce it the bytes will probably still be too big. For months I was just reducing the size of my picture, rather than the quality to get the bytes right. I was submitting little bitty pictures. Finally someone here took the time to tell me how to do it. I am going to look that post up for you and bookmark it this time.

Here it is!

Edited to add--okay, you got the SIZE of the picture right in the second try but there are still way too many bytes. I really lobbied to change this byte requirement and failed. But you can use the above directions to keep your picture the same size but reduce the bytes. If you need me to help, just ask.

11. I see almost identical ones by you.
I have a slight preference for the 2nd one, there is just a slight shift in the angle.
Very nice colors.

The pink tutus certainly were my choice, and you titled it appropriately.
Excellent.

16. Thanks!
It took me two days too come up with the title. "Pretty in Pink" was something I just threw on initially. My runner-up was "Chorus Line." I thought the trees did look like little dancers. Pink Tutus would have been good too!

26. Thanks Alfredo, just found this comment. You have it easy
this time praising everybody!
Your entry has winning written all over it. I really love it.
I think it is my favorite of your entries so far, but there have been very good ones, and I can't remember them all.
Good luck, though luck has little to do with it.

(I think I have won if I get into the finals, that's my highest ambition)

a wide audience. That's fine with me.

19. Just posted a photo for the first time
"Fleur De Leaves"
I've always enjoyed the photo contests as a long time lurker here. The work shown is so beautiful with so many talented photographers!

I just got a new digital camera this summer and have been happily snapping away. For an artist (fiber and painter, it's "instant gratification", lol)

People have been commenting on my Facebook entries very favorably, so I figured I'd take a deep breath and see what you think. (feeling a little daunted:blush: )

So, I hope you like this one. It's from a series that I took one cloudy afternoon in my backyard. The reds of the oaks are breathtaking, so I was trying to capture that. And I love the juxtaposition of the leaves that appear in the 2D space of the photo.

Best of luck to everyone-this collection is beautiful!
:hi:

20. Hi WovenPaint, and Welcome!!
I always thing it is interesting to see what an artist does with a camera. I haven't been "into" photography that long either. It's funny--I took Studio Art in high school way longer than my talent would have indicated, simply because I liked what it did with the way I saw the world. Honestly, both art and calculus made me see my surroundings differently, and react with the world differently. But photography is much easier and "instant" than calculus. Now finally I can say that I am to the point where I again see my surroundings in a different light.

Listen- most people that start here have sizing issues. You are definitely within the rules but your great colorful photo would probably show better in a larger size. But, you have to do that without increasing the bytes much (because you are close there). Anyway, for future reference, here is how I FINALLY figured out how to size pictures, thanks to Consareliars.

21. Hi and thanks
for the welcome and sizing tips.
I used Photoshop Elements and what I did was re-size the photo to 800 dpi in the vertical direction, then when saving, slid the bar to make it the >200K file size (it came out to approx 176K or #10 on the size scale) with optimized baseline. It was uploaded to photobucket.
After looking over the link, I'm still feeling a bit confused as to how to get photos even bigger online and stay within perimeters-but I'll read through it again...so thanks again!
I love looking at the photos that I take to see the instant flattening of space, positive/negative, etc. When creating artwork, I am creating that 2D image by building it up over time. However, it's so subjective. A camera is instant and objective. I like the way you put that-I, too, am now seeing my surroundings in a different light.

Never had much luck with calculus, tho....

22. That's a very nice shot, Fleur...
like a painting. I always love the fall pix with red leaves because our colors are mostly yellow, some reds at ground level, but almost all yellow in the trees.

the intersection of the Autumn season, in Human and Nature; one could write poetry on the basis of that photo. Just lovely

24. Well thanks!
I often have the temptation to wait for everyone to leave the frame. Sometimes there's so many that you can never get a people free frame. I need to remind myself more that often the person makes the picture.

I need to stop waiting for the perfect moment too. Digital means never wasting film.

I had not read the other comments when I left mine, I do that often to not be influenced, but it was funny how we all said the same thing in essence.
You toned it down perfectly, and chose the right one IMHO.
