5. Difficult choice
All of these themes have so much potential. Not that my vote is likely to change the outcome at this point.

6. yeah, I have my song title picked out already
It's a secret ;)

Actually this will be a fun theme. I think the key to it is to pick a song title that everyone knows. That's a bit difficult with the demographics of this place.

9. I'm terrible at remembering song titles
I can think of some pretty inflammatory ones that would probably heat up the discussions. :dilemma:

10. Sure, go for it!
But if you decide against it, just add it to the thread I started on pictures/titles you aren't using. I thought a politically incorrect Row Row Row Your Boat was semi amusing but sometimes my sense of humor is a bit too quirky.

As for titles of songs, you can use Google and get lists. I can probably find a title to fit any picture I would want. I could use my neighbors angels again for "Angel of the Morning". Unfortunately the morning light doesn't hit them. But "Angel" is a song title too. People who particularly like the seasonal theme could do "Autumn Leaves". Maybe someone will do White Christmas. I'd love to see a good "Up on the Roof"!!

16. yeah, this is gonna be fun
Beyond Row Row Row Your Boat I can't think of a single song everyone here in DU would know. Hmmm. Ole McDonald Had a Farm maybe? Wheels on the Bus?

Seriously, I have a feeling that the ones that do well won't be straightforward. As an example "Sunrise, Sunset" as a song, and a photo of a sunrise, uh, I don't think that would cut it, even if it is a wonderful picture.

If I lived in NYC, I think I would do "On Broadway" . Now I could do "Walkin' in Memphis" but that seems boring.

As for the jazz, I possibly would know it. I'm not a huge fan but I'm old enough to have heard of a few titles. :)

I actually think it would be better to have a line from a song--

"They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway."

"Old McDonald had a chicken. EIEIO"

"When those cotton balls get a rotten, you can't pick very much cotton."

"Bob the Builder, Can he fix it? Bob the Builder, Yes he can."

Anyone at the World Series? "Root root root for the home team" That would be a fun picture.

Going with titles is a little bit trickier. Much as I like to take pictures of birds, I PROMISE NOT TO DO "WIND BENEATH MY WINGS"

18. You are cracking me up all along your post. You are very funny, I like that in a
photo forum buddy.

I am not very up on any music that would be known by a lot of people. I listen to Opera, and some other stuff, but I'm not really knowledgable....

So I got nervous about what on earth to do with this subject matter
(Stairway to heaven made me howl)

and then I poked about in my photos and within about a half hour had two serious potential entries.

I figure we post the photo, and name the title of the song and the performer,

I am no longer worried, I know I can find more to do another 6 choice poll.

23. Maybe someone WILL do "Stairway to Heaven"
It's a really great song that just about everyone knows, and loves. I would think that alone would give the entry a big boost. Alas, I don't have a "Stairway to Heaven" entry. But I bet someone here does.

I've actually been meaning to suggest a contest on interpreting lyrics of a song. This is the next best thing. This gives a little structure to "your choice" People can have an excuse to pick kids, cats, whatever.

19. The irony is...
This is definitely going to be a fun one. The irony of the situation is that I suggested the theme but my music is so far off mainstream I rarely find anyone who knows *of* any bands I listen to, much less actually heard something by them.
Lyrics could be fun too... I wonder what someone would do with a snippet from a song by Snog, Born To Be Mild - "Born to be mild/Like the first McDonald's child/Born to be king/Of the really boring things".

If you're not going to do birds, how about other wildlife?
Eye of the Tiger?
Hungry Like the Wolf?

22. I might still do birds
But the title will NOT be Wind Beneath my Wings--that song bugs me too much. And it is such an obvious title for birds.

Eye of the Tiger I had actually thought about! I don't have the time or inclination to go to the zoo, however. But it would be fun to do a twist on the name of the song--take a picture of a tiger eye marble. I "think" there is such a thing as a tiger eye marble.

24. I think to try to chose a song that "everyone would know" is impossible.
For instance I don't know the "Wheels on a Bus" song already.

What we might consider, if possible and if the host allows it, is to title it with the song name and the artist who wrote it and under the photo have a utube link to it if it exists.

That way we get the full experience, and learn something.

26. I think that's a great idea!!
Like you did for me with "Tubular Bells"--

However, I doubt if most people will actually take the time to listen to most of them. Maybe if they REALLY LOVE the picture but haven't heard of the song.

I was sort of kidding about "Wheels of the Bus." But, how about "I love trash" ? Honestly that is a huge favorite of mine, as a song. Not sure about the picture, though. Something dirty or dungy or musty? Something ragged or rotton or rusty?

20. Here Comes The Rain Again
For a seasonal approach to this song. You can even combine several themes - rain coming down on a porch stairway - for three additional themes (two more if it has a metal mesh for traction and it leads up to a roadside attraction).

12. I'm liking where this is going...
since I'm going out of town for 2 weeks and will be able to shoot but not download until I come back. Fortunately, I have a favorite shot with a song title I've just uploaded into Photobucket, so if the contest starts before I get back, I'll be able to enter. I'll be taking my external drive but I think my dad's Mac can't handle a lot of large photo files.
