In keeping with the month of October,......Please add
cold air, Halloween, mournful skies, changing of the seasons, already missing Summer, frost, fog seething, Geese flying South, fireplaces, costumes, candy galore, retail Christmas displays already, carving contests etc, etc.

My grey ride (this is how it looks without any play with the saturation levels lol) into work just before I left on the trip to colorful Bryce Canyon.

1. Here are a couple I took just yesterday
on the way home from a protest downtown. It's been pretty wet here (in fact you can see a raindrop on the lens in the first picture), but still quite warm. It was up to 52 yesterday.

6. What a cool looking church!!
There are some pumpkins in front of Second Baptist Church here but they can't hold a candle to this! I'll try to add to this thread tomorrow.

8. Oh, how funny...
I made my Baptist remark below before I read your post.

Maybe I should have said "At least they aren't Pentecostal."

9. Our weather's been real odd...
the leaves are falling off the trees before they change colors, which is really sad. Our weeping willow is nearly naked, but what leaves remain haven't changed. Thus, no good fall color pictures. Pretty sad, actually.

13. We have four seasonal contests
November 1 - fall
February 1 - winter
May 1 - spring
August 1 - summer

I think I have the dates right. That spring one always throws me because we have nothing but tiny shoots coming out of the ground by May 1.

15. That marks an anniversary for me.
I came to find you guys and to enter my first photo in last year's fall photo contest.

I feel very much accepted and grateful for what I have learned and am learning along the way.
Thanks for accepting me in with such big hearts, and with so much inclusive acceptance.

16. I think that was my first contest, too
Very humbling. I decided that the contest needed something subtle, and I submitted one where you could barely see fall colors through fog. LOL, that did not go over well at all.

Didn't Jeff R win with a fantastic waterfall picture? If I remember correctly, I think my photo was in his preliminary group. Haha, now that I think about it, I have really bombed in a lot of contests.

We aren't into fall colors here yet. Last year they were great. Not sure about this year yet.

17. Hesitantly I surveyed my yard just now
I love the fall visuals, but not what they imply.

These guys don't look happy

The little beggar is out looking and scrounging

From a top window the parking lot looks like a large leaf receptacle.
I'll read two books on tape raking that in the end.

It seems just yesterday that we were showing budding trees.

22. More than you want to know, but
I have some "installations" along the borders of my yard, the aforementioned leaf depository.
Like everything and everyone, they all have stories.

The one you see is a bit ragged right now, needs propping up and cleaning a bit.
They demolished a number of acres of my neighborhood, razed it, to make room for a brand new development called "The Gateway".
I took one piece of something from each building they knocked down, and built little shrine.

On the other side of the gate is this one:

I call it "Nephew Art", my nephew did a whole 50 foot wall

especially with Lake Jenny, the wildflowers and the hikes.
