It's frosty in the shade


This is the glacial stream that comes from the base of Byron Glacier.


I'm not sure if this was snow left over from last winter or a remnant of the receding glacier. It was separated from the main body of the glacier by some rocky terrain, but it does have the blue of glacial ice. Hullboss just has to explore.


Looking down Portage Valley in the direction of Portage Glacier. In the old days when I first moved up here, Portage Glacier extended into the middle of the lake, but now it's barely visible from the visitor's center. We see global warming with our own eyes. Of course, at one time, this whole valley was under a glacier.

We had to choose our path carefully once we left the maintained trail. The frost had melted and the rocks were slippery.
