Summer Solstice Roller Skating Picture
The sun shines on this sign only a few days per year (summer solstice), after 7PM. Finally I went and took the picture today for the first time. I have no idea how much longer the sign will even be there because it has been awhile since the building has been a skating rink. On the other side of the building there is a pretty good "Roller Skate for Health" sign but it's off the private lot where a bunch of trucks park. I'd have to trespass, and even then the trucks could spoil the picture. But I might investigate that. It would be morning sun, perhaps.

7. I bet it is worth some money
Well, maybe not. It would be hard to move. It's huge.

I'm really emotionally attached to this place, because I had several different birthday parties there for my kids. It was pretty much on a downhill slide by then but I liked the ambiance anyway.

3. oh, that looks good!
Thanks. Maybe I will follow your advice. It might have been a bit better even later by thirty minutes or so EXCEPT, there were actually some clouds so it couldn't work today. I don't think the current owners/tenants will take it down unless it becomes a hazard of some kind or requires maintenance. But, that could easily happen, as it isn't in great condition.

4. seems like you should be able to find
an angle to separate the sign from the building more

things like this are disappearing at an alarming rate, I could kick myself that I have not shot more of them

6. I could try, anyway
But I think I got the best angle for the sun. It's not all that far from me but it's a bit of a sketchy neighborhood, at least at that non-business hour. I may or may not make it over again at the right time this year. I'd like to try it a few minutes later, though. The right time is when I should be eating dinner. Husband thinks I'm a bit nuts.

I tried taking some from a hill and that didn't work at all. I did well just to keep trucks and electrical wires out of the picture.
